I hate you.

Oh and my reciever mount license plate proved to be weeker than I originally hoped. I thought I would be a tough guy and push over a tree, my license plate disagreed.

Don't worry the rear will get some nice dp90, black, and satin clear.

The winch bumper is coming along very nicely.
Yes, but I have an issue that would have to be addressed before I bought one.
Here's a picture of the "mounts" and what he said on CO4x4:
Taken from C)4x4 thread said:
The [winch] bumper will have the same three bolt mounts. However, I designed it to work with a set of bracing plates. They are nearly ready also, and will be released at the same time as the bumper. A test version is shown below. The final version will be slightly different. The reason I did this was to prevent you from having to unmount your steering box to remove the bumper and then try to jockey them both back into place for the install. You can weld the bumper to the plates if you feel you need the additional rigidity.

While I feel his point is semi-valid I would think that the amount of people that are going to go through the work of fabricating the bumper wouldn't mind to much about the steering box issue. I would much rather have these mounts that he offer's seperately.

I'll have to contact him when the details are finalized on the winch bumper to see if he is willing to subsitute those out. (That is if I don't end up taking off the front clip of my XJ... still havn't come to a conculsion on that yet...)

Just to clarify, the second mount plate that is shown above is not mine. That is being made by Ukraine Train.
Good point. Sorry for the confusion. :confused1 Combining with the fact you both are offering DIY bumpers are a both releasing a winch bumper and the fact I need some more sleep I got confused. (to late to go back and edit the original, but above is what I should have typed).

At any rate, do you have plans for a longer mounting plate as an option? Granted I have the C-Rok brace setup, but I feel one peice would be more ideal. I guess I could always just weld it like everything else. Then again maybe its just a moot point as you do offer bracing plates seperate, but that just takes care of the driver's side... yet for the price your offering it at I don't think anyone can ask much more from you. So, ya.

Secondly, I do still think that my other point about the amount of people that are going to go through the work of fabricating the bumper wouldn't mind to much about the steering box issue. I would deffinatly be happier with a longer mount setup on the passanger side, but that's just something I'd have to fab up myself.

Third, for the record, yours do seem to have a much better "look" and "completeness" then his, minus the mounting.

dirtclod can we get a side view of the winch bumper...it looks very nice

I don't have a good one at the moment. Here is a development picture that is pretty close. It was mounted on the truck a bit crooked (leaning back), but you get the idea.

heres a quick question....when you guys installed the iron scorpion bumper, roughly how much lift if any did you guys lose? and how did you gain your lift back if you lost too much? spacers? acos? let me know. my bumper should be here monday, and friday night she will be welded up and im hoping by saturday i can get it mounted (HOPING) haha

it only weighs like 70 lbs... i didnt notice any loss.

i thought for sure that being heavier than the stock bumper you would lose an inch or more. but, i wont argue with that!!! im assuming it will depend on how stiff the springs are?
