Iron Rock Long Arm Upgrade

Iron rock puts out some nice beefy products. they are not the first to only use one upper arm on a radius arm suspension. a lot of custom builders and do it yourselfers have built them for years. like rockkrawler they are the first to build a system with only 1 uca and mass produce it. people said the same negative things about RK's 3 link when it came out a few years back about having only 1 upper arm. like RK there upper arm is attached to the cast mount on the diff. and is a hardened bolt. can it fail? sure it could, but highly unlikely. i am not a radius arm fan, but if i was this is what i would run.i feel they hit a homerun with the new high clearence design. there prices are good and they have excellent service. and most of all they think outside the box. my.02

While one 10mm bolt on the upper mount may frighten some, it is grade 8 and has not failed me at all...and I've put it through h*ll and back several times.

Thanks for the recent orders guys! Our new Critical Path Long Arm Upgrade is becoming a hot product almost right away!

While the key design elements are the same, the revised system is better in so many ways!! We increased ground clearance (highest mounting points of any commercially available long arm system), tire clearance, long arm length, and introduced a heavy duty and high clearance subframe that is easy to install!

FYI- We are considering moving to ONLY adjustable length long arms but nothing is set in stone yet.....we would love to hear what you guys think. PM or email [email protected] with your thoughts!

any pics of the new design bolted up? I would like to see the mounting points on the unibody end is at all possible.
We are using the Iron Rock Suspension system on the Off-Road.com Project Jeep XJ. You will be able to see the full install and review article next month. We chose the Iron Rock suspension for it's durability, flexibility, innovation and of course, they are just super cool guys to deal with. I'll post a link back here once it is published.

I know you guys put in a lot of work to make the arms fixed but every jeep is different and it would make life easier to have adjustable links... a fixed long arm install is like making a fixed 4 link... there are many factors in which one might need to adjust down the road or simply during install (like an axle swap for example with fabbed up link brackets)... maybe a little more $ but well worth it in my opinion

so now you are going to sell rusty, bent, mangled on rock, wearing out, and clunking prone control arms?

We have always offered the option to go adjustable. We have been pushing the fixed length arms for a long time now stating the drawbacks of an adjustable control arm. Despite our efforts, we have seen overwhelming demand for adjustable length long arms.

The ends we are using are super high quality and offer up to 44 degrees of misalignment!!! As with any threaded rod, if not properly maintained, the threads can rust and seize, they can get mangled on rocks making adjustment difficult or impossible, and they can wear out if the jam nut is not kept tight. The good thing is that you won't be stuck with a part that doesn't work if you have any of these things happen. The ends are available separately if you need them!!!;)

I have never thought bad of threaded joints on suspension components. Just seemed a little hypocritical how you went from saying they are bad and seemingly full of problems to considering making them standard. Gives the noobie to the offroad world the impression that every other suspension system on the market is absolute garbage and he/she will have issues if they choose to run that kit.

By stating the drawbacks of an adjustable control arm we hoped to show you guys our philosophy for using fixed length arms when everybody else uses adjustable.....

It turns out that while we have had some success in explaining this to a small crowd, there are still 10 to 1 people out there that would prefer the adjustable arms. This is why we are considering the transition. I'm sure you can appreciate the importance of this kind of decision for a small company like Iron Rock.

I personally run that Iron Rock Offroad Iron-Y and I love it...damn near maintanance free. My only regret is not getting that adjustable option. Here you go...
