IRO Bar Pin Eliminator review

Just got these in the mail today and thought I'd post a quick review (pics to follow, maybe)

First of all, the pictures on the Iron Rock Offroad site didn't do them justice. These things are BEEF! They look to be 3/16" thick and mine came "gold" - or zinc plated to protect against corrosion.

Came with all the hardware needed to install: bushing sleeves to replace your bar pins, 10MM through-bolts (14 mm head, I think), 8 MM bracket-to axle bolts... All the hardware was graded 8.8 or better and the axle bolts were zinc plated.

I had to find different through bolts to work with my JK Rubicon shocks and will have to drill out the brackets before installing, but I am VERY impressed with initial quality and will post install pics when I get a chance.

Install update:

The supplied bracket-to-axle bolts were a tight fit going through my rusty axle housing's even rustier shock mounting holes. They did fit, though. In a way this is a plus: they give you the beefiest hardware you can use without adding a drill bit.

With the JK shocks I'm running, I had to perform the following mods:
*Drill the IRO cross-bolt holes out to 1/2"
*Use a bench grinder to take 1/16 - 1/8" or so off the JK bushing sleeves
*Source a 3" long 1/2" bolt. I actually used an M12 but it's about the same size.
The JK bushing sleeve has a larger OD and ID than the XJ sleeves, so I couldn't use the same bolt (bolt would slop around in the sleeve) or change sleeves (sleeve slop in the bushing). This is why I drilled the brackets to 1/2" and used bigger bolts. Hey, bigger is better anyway, right?

I'm very happy with the IRO bracket's quality. Install was pretty painless and as I'd said before, they are beefy.

The JK shocks, I'm also quite pleased. I got the black-body JK shocks. Some folks call them pretty stiff... I disagree. Compression damping could be stiffer for my taste. Rebound damping, though, seems just right. I only feel each bump or dip in the road once - as the tire falls into or hits it. Once the tire is back on level ground, its done. No more wobble!

The shocks won't keep up with a guy running 7100s, but right now I'm at ~75-100 bucks for the IRO brackets & JK shocks, shipping included. For a 2-4" lift, you just won't beat that.
