Interest in Hollister run? March 20th

Thats pretty common now days I think everyone is doing alot of wallet checking including me. My boss cut my pay 30 percent said it would only be 3 to 4 months now hes changed his minds yes I said minds I think he has a split personality. Oh well I planned on moving back to Oregon soon any way so whatever. So i am trying to hit alot of these great Cali trails before I depart to the land of the really poor people.

Hey now! I know more poor people in Fremont than I do up here in Eugene, Or. :)

i am in for a hollister trip. need to try out my new gears & arb's to see how they work.

also, seems like i am not the only one wanting to move from this wonderful cultural melting pot of horrific driving foreigners to the great white north (Oregon) where you do not have to press "1" for english?

I'm ready to wheel let me know when to show up. I will try to keep quite about the rest. I am already a resisident of Or my mail goes there my cars are Registered there. Just need to move back the GF is getting tired of waiting for me. Any way let me know what weekend and I will be there as long as its not this coming weekend beacuse of the Truck Expo or the following I will be at Cow mountain on Sat, I could do next Sunday though.

The date is set for March 20th since thats the only weekend I will be home. Also sounds like Hollister is the only option at this point too, so mark your calendars for March 20th at Hollister Hills SVRA!

Hows the weather doing out there? Am I going to be waist deep in mud?

Be gentle with the lad....he is in the middle of getting his edjumakasion...:laugh2::laugh2:

so where can we find open trails... sierra nat'l forest, another snow run, pismo... come on guys, cough up a location.... trying to lose the grumps here in the bay area.... looking for beers, camp fires, fun... broken axles, crunched sheet metal, etc., etc.

No way will we ever be gentle! You don't want your boy going soft do you? :D

But it is his thread so it is up to him to chage the date or change the place. What you want to do Matt?

Now if only there was someone on this board that built a website with trails and parks in California . . . I would have called it 4x4trailmaps.com

I know :gag:

Maybe one more . . .

Seems to me most of the trails in the Sierras will be covered in snow, and while I enjoy snow, Im getting enough of that in CO.

And while Hollister isnt much, it is better than any other reasonable option that I can think of.

Rubicon=snow
Fordyce=snow+cold ass water crossings
JV=way to long of a drive
Deer Valley area=snow+ easy trails

.....?

:dunno:

oh and its possible i can get us in to hollister. my neighbor back home is one of the head rangers, although its not likely, i can give him a call and see whats up.

Even if we could get in to the upper Ranch at Hollister, it is a "Hare Scramble" and they go all over the park, so all the roads the bikes are on or go across will be blocked off.

BLM Knoxville, north side of Lake Berryessa? I might be interested in catching a seat for that one, might not have my car ready yet.

Prairie City? Not a whole lot there but if you get a group that does want to play....

Cow mountain its a drive but there wasen't any snow last time my freinds where there. I am going the weekend of March 6th so I can check it out and see if there is any snow then. :doh:

Is there anything at Cow Mountain? I know people that live up in that area that drive to Hollister to go wheeling because they say "there is no reason to go to Cow Mountain." And my thought is Hollister is not that great.

Ive never been but had some friends go a couple weeks ago they had fun they said its pretty good sized park. I did go to the maps of the place it looks pretty good and they have black diamond trails. I am going to check it out next weekend i will find out for sure.

Check out the Red Mountain obstacle course, ask around it can be hard to find. It has been built up over the years. All of the trails I have been on there have been easy but I have heard some of the trails closer to the Ukiah side are more difficult.
