Ill be back in Cali for spring break and want to go wheeling.

Im going on the assumption that there will be snow everywhere in the Sierras, so looks like the only option will be Hollister.

So who's interested in a day trip on Saturday March 20th? My dad and I will be going in two Jeeps, and hopefully it will be a break in run for a couple other friends.

You know you want to go wheeling with me:D

Put me down as a definite maybe. As the day gets closer it will be easier to tell.

is there camping open there this time of year? never been there but i would like to hang for the night if i went.

But Hollister?

Anyone know if the Creek in Frank Rains park is open?

The park is still open, but like SeansXJ said, Ive heard the creek is closed. However, I couldnt find any recent information about it.

I tried calling the park service and they had no idea what I was talking about, and the ranger station was closed.

If only JV wasnt 8 hours away!

Well we need to look for a better place to get the Grump's out of Starboard D.

Looking at the map all the creeks are in Red:

Well if its not closed now it will be soon. Like Clear Creek and so many others. I heard that they are trying to close down parts or most of the places to wheel in Moab and quite a few places in Oregon and Washington. Well not to rant just getting tired of hearing about another place or portion of a trail thats closed down. The percentage of trails open to 4 wheel drives is so small now I guess once they close those down we can sit and look at our trucks instead.

they closed the creek at Frank Raines to save some species of fish, really small fish too nothing like a trout or salmon.

Yeah I'm tired of tree huggers to. And the GFs one. Yeah I guess if they need to save some endangered fish I can understand but it seems excessive as of lately. The tree huggers are going to take all the parks and keep al the OHV funds to. I can't understand why we pay those fees so the can turn around and close the parks down. Oh well sorry for Hi jacking you tread with my sorry rant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and my mom worked for the game and parks commision for 20 years so I do believe in conservation just not hi jacking my ability to enjoy my hobby. :firedevil

Yep, the creek is closed. I was just there a few weeks ago. It was fun and all... but its just too small and barely any challenging obstacles.

Im up for a hollister run. Gotta check the calender and the wallet first though.

Thats pretty common now days I think everyone is doing alot of wallet checking including me. My boss cut my pay 30 percent said it would only be 3 to 4 months now hes changed his minds yes I said minds I think he has a split personality. Oh well I planned on moving back to Oregon soon any way so whatever. So i am trying to hit alot of these great Cali trails before I depart to the land of the really poor people.
