Important

College is over rated to a degree (pun intended). Now with this push for everyone to go for free it just over pollutes the market with candidates.

We still need folks working in the trades that don't have a degree or need one, just the on the job experience. Problem is a lot of entry level folks think they should be making top tier wages.

My degree didn't get me my job, but it did show I could complete the task of college...my gpa did not matter. My yearly college incentive from work doesn't even pay my school loan payments.

mac 'it's all screwed up 'gyvr

I tell my son once a week he needs to figure out how to pay for college because I am not paying. We already pay for private school and 12 years of that will be double what I paid for my college.

He's 7

I was a slacker in HS, ran around, skipped class, had long hair and partied WAY too much...still graduated, but barely...I think I had like a 2.8GPA (but Ii was a hell of a lot of fun at the time) . Once out of HS and sacking groceries part time and working at a stereo shop, I decided to cut my hair, clean up my act and go to school....kind of like the Thurogood song "get a haircut and get a real job". Moved away from the town I was in bc I knew if I stayed there I would never get ahead. My best friend at the time talked me into to sharing an apartment w/ him at the University and I was off....never have moved back to my hometown since. Graduated from college and went straight into the workforce. My advisor told me that many employers don't care if you have a degree in jelly dildos, they view the degree as a completion of 4+ years of personal discipline. I worked a few shitty jobs before I landed the government gig, but they were all experience to get me here. Farming on the other hand...that is only good for walks to the mailbox :D

I can't remember what my gpa was in high school. I didn't really feel like going to school for another 4+ years when i got out of high school. Of course now i wish i would have just to have that piece of paper. Pretty much went straight into the work force and have been with the same company now for almost 10 years making good money. My company does reimburse us if we decide to go back to school for something but just don't know if all the work would be worth it for the little bit of pay i would gain. Decisions decisions.

This pretty much sums up my high school and college years.

About mid way through the second semester of community college I was told to go sign up at the union hall because class room work was was not working out for me. I was more into hot rodding cars and chasing girls. After I joined the union, i was making 15.00 per hour in 1986. That was stupid money back then.

First flight of day is over it was a middle seat between two fat ****s, that was miserable, let's see what this one looks like.

Make sure to check out the fine print on the reimbursement policy. The company I work for has it, but they require you to stay two years after the ending of any term where the pay. That was why I payed my own way this go round. It was also a fun question to answer in my panel interview last week.

Yea with as big of a company a company as I work for I'm sure there is some fine print on the reimbursement program. May go talk to boss today about it

I flew out to Iowa Monday, home yesterday. yesterday I was sitting next to this old lady that was 5'ish and mid-weight but decided her elbows needed to be over the arm rest into my side so she could play on her cell phone...Lady you don't need that much space!

Speaking of Unions, Kohler is on Strike. It is interesting crossing the picket line to go into work...

Didn't one of you screwballs say you had an Aztek? Ours was totalled and I have to go clean it out. I wondered if anyone needed any of the Aztek specific interior pieces I can pull quickly in the insurance lot.
