Important

put jack on axle pinion webbing, push against tranny tunnel at the bend. Hopefully you've got a block of wood.

if you do it on the passenger side maybe it will push it down and drivers.

Re: Re: Important

Looks like the best place you have to jack the pinion angle back, would be your coil mount.

Yeah that's where I've been trying,..the problem is that I think me trying to pry the axle over is what is binding and just lifting the whole front end up. I just took all my Damn ratchet straps out of the jeep for some stupid reason

Putting a fifth wheel hitch in is gay!!! I should have just spent 80 on a bracket kit instead of making my own!!

Its done, but only the rear is bolted. My holes in the front ran into the shock brackets so I welded those to the frame!!

But it doesn't suck as bad as what altrocker is dealing with!!

I can be there in under 2 hours with 90% of my tools including a big ass pipe wrench, 2 heavy ratchet straps, and an appropriately sized BFH if needed. Say the word and I start driving.

I think I have a suitable bolt on hand too, not sure.

idea 1: do you have a prybar of some sort? if you can get a long bar under the spring mount and above the axle tube? to twist the axle, you would probably need some good leverage using the jack to push up on the prybar.

idea 2: back the front DS tire against on of those parking stops, might be enough force to get the axle back verticle.

Help from a nac member is on the way with a winch, ken I think I might be in business when this guy gets here.

I have tried rotating it under the spring mount with a long box end wrench and a jack and it shattered the wrench. If we can use the winch to loop under and around the housing where the pinion is it should pull forward enough and out enough to get things lined back up...

I honestly think the the "iron y" that it's binding on. There is no wristing in the uca so the pinion has to be at just the right angle to fit around it and slide into the mount, so instead it's sticking hanging up on the uca mount instead of sliding into it...

It's going to be a battle as long as there's any force on the axle. I have to use ratchet straps to move mine around in ideal conditions; frame on jack stands, no track bar, jack under the axle. Any outside force on it just makes it that much worse.

If there any's way to get the frame up higher, that can only help you. With the coils unloaded it's going to be a whole lot easier to move around. If the tires are still on it, you might take them off to let the axle down lower and that could help too. Although that might be a huge pain without a rolling floor jack.

If you are to that point with no luck, consider taking the DS lower off and then you can rotate the axle to the correct angle, then slide it into both the upper and lower at the same time.

Good luck, hope you guys can get it sorted out quick.

No dice...couldn't get it even with a winch...I'm worried my ova mount may have gotten tweaked. They kicked us out of the parking lot we were working in so no I'm going to have to get a hotel room up here and deal with it tomorrow. So another 100 bucks, at this point this trip is pretty much going to be a wash after I throw gas money in the mix. First time my xj has ever left me stranded in 10 years...all because of a 10 mm bolt. ~

I assume they could claim it was designed for off-road use only. I'm fully aware that everything I drive a lifted vehicle on the highway I am taking a risk...I'm not going to start a griping war with iro, in this case it's impossible to say what happened...

My comment wasn't to suggest any type of claim against them, I just wondered what the process is to limit the liability.

I'll bet that Hobag has thought about it in the pieces that he's designed. The LLC keeps your personal finances out of it, but the business still has to have some thought for product failure and backlash from that.

Good luck in getting that thing back together and down the road.

No I didn't think so, but I'm sure others have thought about it when things break on their rigs. I certainly would like to talk to them though, they seem like good people who would want to hear about how it failed. I just don't want something like this or worse to happen to someone else if it can be prevented.

Well. I had my mind set on an iro kit but i guess I will rethink that...
I have also noticed on Dans jeep that there is interference between the iro front truss and longarms (that uca bracket). Might just be his jeep though.

they did alright mounting my junk on the MJ. Pretty sure there's one that's not balanced 100% cause I get vibes at 60, but no where else.

I'm gonna put hobag's balls in them and be done with it when I swap wheels.

The dry rot scared me more than tread depth...

I went to Applebee's for lunch, I can't stand to watch them work on it.

I just ordered another set of TreadWright's for the front of the Dodge. I had put a set of their mud treads on the duals last year and they are wearing great, the fronts were virgin rubber Wanli brand and they have cupped out and they just sucked in general. I will try these retreads on front and see how bad they are. 19.5's suck when it comes to availability or options in this part of the world. Getting some HoBalls to put in them as well. They are also having a sale with 10% off, so that helped to offset the shipping of those heavy bastards a little bit.

In other news, I lost a rod bearing in my planter tractor, so that is @ $10K in the ass. That motor only had under 400 hours on a comlpete rebuild, and the dickface wont stand behind it. New reputable builder doing it and documenting it this time. Nothing like giving the profit from that particular farm away in repairs before the crop is even up.....

Of course this happed 72 hours after we bought a camper too...perfect timing. Luckily the camper is an oldie instead of a mobile club R, but it will suffice to see if we will use it at all and if so, we will upgrade in teh future. It has a newer oversized AC, a bed and a fridge, I did not look at anything beyond that

buying a red one I hope.

How bad is shipping from treadwright? I've been thinking about buying from them but the idea of lots of money towards shipping is kinda offputting.
