Important

Radius arms that have a bushing in between still bind some, they just have a bushing to take up some of that.

Just to clarify, I'm not hating on any long arm kit. Everyone's got there stuff that works for them. I'm not an a-hole like that lol.

832 miles So far of our trip covered. Shooting with the IC guys tomorrow.

One of the treadwrights I just bought for the Chevy won't balance at all, two different shops have tried. I have submitted a warranty claim, they are supposed to send me a new tire. The other 3 balanced fine and they all run smooth at any speed other than 45-50. Of course they send me a 10% coupon 2 weeks after I order 4 tires

~$25 a tire for a 265/75/16 from TX to IN. It isn't any cheaper shipping to a business either, I tried that. Ended up being $540 for a set of 4 shipped to me.

My set balanced nicely.. Quiet on the road. Other than the fact they pick up a metric shit ton of rocks off the gravel, I am really happy. I got the Watchman BtB tires in an E range.

But I only payed $20 per to ship. and it was cheaper to ship to a business by about $5 per tire. The idiots at Fed Ex couldn't find the business at the end of the dead end street for a week.

I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. Price couldn't be beat, everything in a 17 inch around here was stupid priced or what used tires were around were nasty.

Just shattered the last ratchet I had...Fml. what a nightmare. Got a cab to home depot ...another 30 bucks down the toilet

Were you able to get anyone local to give you a hand? Maybe post up on NAC and see if someone has a truck, trailer and shop you could use or at least another set of hand/muscles...

My radius arms were a whole new animal with JJ bushings in the upper axle mounts (the currie joints that Ho mentioned actually) they still unload though but I'll be using the winch to control that now

The entire axle is off the jeep and the arms are as well...even completely disconnected the arm won't line up...either theI axe mounts ate tweaked or the arm is bent or both. This arm won't work anymore...anyone know anyone at clayton? They are about 30 miles from here I believe and at this point I cant put short arms back on since my lca mounts are cut off. I should be at home holding my baby right now...I can't even describe how frustrated I am right now and I'm almost $1000 deep in this ordeal and looking at the possibility of having to get a hotel and rent a car to get somewhere.

i just posted this in the LOPT:

its a PITA to line up, especially by yourself.. i had a ratchet strap from my axle to another truck's hitch to connect mine. i've havent spoken to any/most of them in years, but there are a LOT of jeep and XJ dudes in that area. whether or not they have the heart to lend a hand isn't something i can speak on. do you know anyone besides RJ up there?

I understand your frustration. Call IRO and talk to Josh, see what they can do for you. If nothing else, they can send you a new arm that you can sell.

Your ordeal has made me a bit scared. Not that I ever thought it was a great idea to have so much importance on such a small bolt. I've been running ideas through my mind of how I can fix my arm prior to being in your position. My best thought is to make the upper Y adjustable, much like an adjustable control arm, but use a bushing like hobag was talking about for a larger bolt.

I know it's hard to listen to the good things in your situation, but thank God that your wife/baby weren't with you and you weren't going faster. As bad of a situation as this is, it could have been worse. Again, I don't want to down play your ordeal, but I'm happy your unhurt.

No this is exactly the same thing I tell myself....I feel a little better now that I have a shower and I'm on my way back to the city to sleep. I've just always been able to fix my jeep over the years, and this is the first thing I haven't been able to. I sent an email to iro today while I was working and Jason was supposed to call me back but I haven't heard from them yet...I know they will reach out, they seen like good people.

I have a few plans formulated for tomorrow and I'm hoping one of them can at least limp me somewhere easier to work

If nothing else a truck and trailer are higher on the priority list.

mac 'I would've lost my mind by now' gyvr

Craig, is it where it is able to be rolled or pulled onto a trailer? I know you are sack deep into this already, but could you rent a truck/trailer or dolly to get it home? If funds are the limiting factor, PM me, I can help ya get home.

Cheese "would come with a trailer myself if crops were planted" Man

Good morning jeepers!

Dan.

I would cut the whole drivers upper off and build a passenger upper. Biggest Johnson you want. Throw some 7/8" heims in it of you want.

Lot of work but you can build it how you want it without dicking around with the stock bushing

Or leave the drivers as is and build a passenger as well. Sure there will be some binding but it worked on the jeep you built, mine, TNT, RC, Clayton etc...

This is a horrible picture, but you get the idea. I'm wanting to make my upper arm on the driver side similar to what this adjustable upper short-arm is. I think it could be very easily done and made to be a lot safer than the current setup, but with a larger bolt

Re: Re: Important

Yep. Just weld some tabs on your current lower and run a adjustable upper with bushing.

This is exactly what I did on my old grand. Just built it similar to what the Clayton's kit is and it worked great for me. That is probably how I will do ours when I get around to building it this fall.
