Good morning jeep fans!

Sam and Brewster. I just saw the crazy ice on the Kankakee river in Illinois isn't that the river your family has a cottage on?

The good:
From what we can tell(by me driving over the river in downtown Kankakee, it is still the smooth iced river right now, which is a good thing. because those ice chunks will tear houses down

The bad:
the water level is way up and probably already in the house. I plan on checking it out tonight if my folks dont get there 1st

The interesting:
'IF' water is in the house, and then it freezes because its sub zero temps, won't the water expand in the house and therefor push on the walls? causing the whole house to crumble?

that is what has me the most worried...

Your theory would make sense, but it will also expand were it is easiest, think of a pop bottle, It has to fill the top up before it breaks the sides. If there is enough water to fill it to the ceiling I would say you have bigger problems.

The way those ice chunks were ripping up the banks is just insane!

I guess that makes more sense. It would not start pushing out the walls if it still had room to go up.

either way the place is screwed now and rainy season is not even here.

we will have a summer full on cleaning and rebuilding.

you can see here how close the house is off the bank. this shot was taken right out the back door

this was the last bigger one.

you can see how close the water gets but right here it is not in the house.
im pretty sure the flood level was like 5.something here. i think its well over 6 now.

but you can see how close the house is, so if the river is up over the banks like in this pic and there are XJ size ice chunks floating around, they will likely completely demolish the house. so yea, its been a fun 10 years...

^ this....I have 12.5 on 10's and the 10's are just a bit wide....yes they work and your 10.5's will work fine on 8's but if you are buying new wheels get 7's. If you already have the 10's mount them up she will be fine unless she airs down below 15

I don't have the money even if I had a place to plug it in or I would get a dual voltage.
look at the factory refurbed units.
comes with a warranty, so I wouldn't be scared.
You know it was some guy that couldn't use it and set it back.

water that freezes in the wall space will be the biggest issue.

....but, if it's not going to be used for hard wheeling, the 8" wheels will work just fine with 10" tires

I ran 9.5's on an 8" wheel.
airing down is not possible.

I popped beads on the street with a 10.5 on a 8" wheel. I've also been mounting 12.5 on 7" wheels and they work great.

Lighter, cheaper... there is no reason not to go with a 7"

My 10.50s were on 8 wide but they were street kicks. I run my 12.50 on 8" wide wheels. My 13.50 iroks were on 7" stock CJ wheels with DIY beadlocks but that's because the guy that sold them to me said beadlock kit makes the wheels slightly wider???

I'd go 7" for sure with 10.50s

Well Dick's don't come in 7" wide so 8 it is, this thing see's some two tracks every once in a while and that's it. In 2 years I've never touched the tires besides to rotate them.

any tips and tricks here for tig welding?

ive only been doing it for 3 days and am pretty happy, but my heat affected zone is far to big. i have some ideas i need to work on... torch angle, arc length, adding filler... but for the most part, its not as hard as everyone seems to think it is.

10.5" wide tires should be on a 8" wide wheel right???

I'm going to suprise the wife with a new set of dicks!!
