OK does my 01 XJ have a BCM?
I have been having problems with my lock stuck trying to lock this is a few months after paying a shop to rewire my hatch.

They found broken wires and rewired the hatch for free but the locks are still holding on unless they unhook the wires to the BCM he says.
I am supposed to be fine with it because everything but my remote locks works now..

when I google a BCM i am coming up with nothing for my car. he says its by the passenger kick i guess by the fuses. Could it have been fried by their wiring failing and shorting it out?

If it isnt a BCM what is it called?

No XJ has a BCM.

Modules in XJs:
ECU - on 4.0 equipped vehicles, controls engine
TCU - on 4.0/AW4 equipped vehicles, controls transmission
PCM - on 2.5/standard vehicles, controls engine. on 2.5/auto vehicles, controls engine and transmission.
IP - dumb gauges on 96 and earlier, computer module that pulls data off the CCD bus and displays it on the gauges on 97 and later.
ABS HCU - controls the ABS system.
ACU/ACM - controls the airbag system.

ZJs have BCMs as well... XJs don't. Anyone who says an XJ has a BCM doesn't know what they are doing with XJ electrical.

Oh, there is also an RKE module and/or an OHC module on vehicles with remote keyless entry and/or overhead consoles.

Crap I guess I will have him show me what he is talking about and i.d. it myself. aparrently it is in the kick and has 3 wires going to it (kinda vague right?)

Sucks They are 1hr away and I take my Rig there becaus they are supposed to know what they are talking about. Specialize in modified jeeps, run a competition rig, support local clubs and land use rights and have "Jeep certified mechanics" LOL

So much for my misplaced faith I wanted to get all the kinks worked out of my XJ. I Wanted it 100% for W.F. and just to get it all back while I had a few bucks.

3 wires is WAY too few for a BCM. Oh yeah, 97+ may have a SKIM module as well for the immobilizer.

Which kick panel?

Went on the ATSG site today and bought a PDF download for a manual... Still haven't recieved a transaction email with my download link... Not thrilled...
