That reminds me. I need to start hunting for a couple more parts jeeps.

People like pulling parts off a jeep in a garage much more than one in a snow and ice covered junk yard.

Thing about the junk yard is if you know what the small parts are that you can make a little $$ off of you don't need to have a non-running jeep sitting around. If it's all snowy I'll stay home and work on my projects.

I grabbed two things that were half of what I paid today for everything, that will will sell for double what I paid for everything each on eBay.

I like browsing junk yards. If I'm going to make money off parts I would still rather just buy a jeep to part it. For a few reasons...first, its not nickle and dime parts like a junk yard, its the big items that make money fast. Second, I don't have to do the work. I point to the jeep and say "have at it". Third, I usually don't have to ship stuff. People come to me to get parts. I hate shipping parts.

The TooFiddy Lives! Got it onto the drive-on, hooked whats left of the exhaust back up and ran it to operating temps. No leaks! I just gotta get the pass. side O2 hooked back up and I'll drive it home tonight and see how it does. I still plan on getting the exhaust done proper, but for now, it'll do...

I have three junkyards withing 20min of me now... But not a lot of jeeps in any of them... I wheel an deal for parts most of the time, but with them being so close, I might just start selling...

USPS flat rate boxes are a life saver and the post office has an automatic thing in the lobby that's open when I'm working.

Forgot about dans part already...

My only problem with a flat rate box is it seems like every time I need to ship something, it wont fit in the damn box.

I've also found that it's not the cheapest always. If something is really light it's still cheaper to put it in a regular box and have them weigh it.

I've experienced both, I had two hydraulic rams I sold to a guy in Washington state, non flat rate was $80, or $13 for flat rate.

Those steering box spacers shipped cheaper in a plain box.

Me too. I had an ac bracket that a guy wanted. It was heavy and big and it wouldn't quite fit in a flat rate box. Like the lid would close but there was a slight bump in the top. They wouldn't ship it flat rate. It went from $18 up to like $27.

I get glass shipped here on a weekly basis. car-lite sends it in a stupid skinny box that it pretty much just glass wrapped in cardboard.

it you saw it you would think they came in damaged all the time.

10+years and i have only had one damaged one.

these are sent fed ex ground from all over the land and im sure they get tossed around

some how i can get a perfect condition glass for 10 years but i have to do a claim on damaged sheet metal every single week, and that is only coming from Detroit over 2 days

if anyone is looking for a daily driver, i will trade my 06 VW GTI straight up for 97 or newer xj. spread the word...please.

i know this probably isnt the right place for this but i need to be done w/ this VW asap.

Has anybody ever bought any parts from ironman4x4fab.com? Have got a gift certificate to them and didn't know how their parts hold up.

I used to be scared to ship stuff...but in the last few years of selling stuff on the internet, here's a few pointers I've learned along the way.

1. Don't be scared to ship anything...

2. The cheapest way to ship a tire that I have found is greyhound, and they ship other stuff.

3. There are two sizes of medium flat rate boxes.

4. Even if it won't fit in a flat rate box, a similar size box under the weight rating (not sure the exact specifics) can be shipped as a flat rate (do this with zj heated seat/rear defrost switches).

5. The weekly photo ads (free) are great to pack with, wad a few pages up.

6. Many post offices have kiosks in the lobby and rarely is there a wait to use it, some are even open late at night and early in the morning (maybe a bigger city thing).

7. Don't be afraid to make your own box to fit the item, its usually much cheaper.

8. Go to the post office directly, ups hub, or fed ex hub, don't use third party shippers, they sometimes double the rates.

9. The faster you ship, (meaning get the item to the post office and get a tracking number) the happier your customers are!!! If you don't believe me, ask any Rusty's customer.
