Important

I ended up buying shims when i did mine. The first pack of shims by the gear is the depth of the pinion. The second set of shims is the preload. I added a small shim to mine to loosen it up a bit. Torque the nut to spec rotate a few times. Use a beam type torque wrench and watch the preload. I cant remember the spec. Mine "felt tight" and was way up on rotational torque so I bought the shim. Got them from randys and the shims were $20 but $30 to ship them. Which was retarded.

NC taxes your vehicle purchase based on state determined value and a 2% property tax that you pay annually until you don't own the vehicle anymore. Military that are stationed in NC are exempt from the annual property tax, so a lot of military folks register them here for a year to avoid the bigger sales tax back home and then switch over.

In OH, you pay 7.5% on the purchase price. There is a tax exemption if the vehicle is going to reside outside of OH for 6 months or more of the year, civilian or military. I haven't paid sales tax on a vehicle since I joined the MC. They're registered in OH with the exemption and I tell the dealer not to charge me any tax/title fees in NC.

I can take care of that tax problem for you Mac. You can borrow my motorhome anytime after that :D

I have found that if you ask twenty people a question pertaining to government and taxes you will get twenty different answers.

In Illinois if you buy from a private party you will be charged a tax based on the year of the vehicle. If it is from a dealer, even out of state, you will be charged a percentage of the difference in price.

But depending on how smart the person is that too may vary. I still have not registered my boat trailer that I bought in Wi. three years ago. WI does not register single axle trailers so there was no title ever issued, I only got a Certificate of Origin for a 10 year old trailer. The lady insisted I pay the tax based on the value of it when it was new.

Side note, I was offered a job as a building maintenance supervisor at a manufacturing facility in Rockford out of the blue. I had been doing contract work there on and off.
I have an interview next week.

Just found out the car and the jeep both have the same rim bolt pattern. Since the car needs new tires anyways, figured i might try and see if our stock jeep rims and tires will fit the car. Will have to take a pic of the jeep rims on the car.
