Flex, What racing Club (SCCA, Midwest...)?

I thought I'd post a couple of cars that run in our AutoX that you don't see racing every day ;)

Ex-Police Crown Vic:

I have a guy who wants to buy my 99 motor to swap into a 01 with shredded bearings. He bought a brand new 01 non 0331 casting head but that was before he knew the motor was toast. So if he buys my motor to swap the head then it's a plug and play swap if he pulls the dizzy and uses his ignition stuff correct?

I would bet that if you pull the distributor and replace it with the 00' pickup and coil packs it will work. I believe the huge differences are in the manifolds. 00's have that split manifold into 2 cat deal. I believe the intake is slightly different, but if I'm not mistaken, they are a bolt on.

Correct. His new head, your engine, his DIS pickup/dizzy replacement thing, done.

X2

Stay stock or go big.

I would usually agree but I'd like to keep close to stock width and also keep my 8.8" and only 35"s.

Ron, SCCA solo. It's an abandoned airstrip turned test track that is owned by the city and Cummins. Some guy in a big rig didn't get the memo and had to turn the big rig around.

Ron, don't you mean 2000 and catalytic converter?

If you're going to be an anal prick, check your own slang too ;)

Watch a Solo race here in Terre Haute once, it was awesome to watch. A guy has a Honda CRX. Suspension was stiff that he would corner and would be 3 wheeling it.

These were from 2009. Took a ride in a Subi that day, it was awesome.

A stock Escort ZX2 will do it as well. I know because I've done it.

A dude I went to HS with had the itch to do some Solo II. We ran in SCCA. We were the first people they had ever seen run the same car so we made our numbers swappable. Like 24 and 42. IIRC, I used to pull lap times about 10secs faster than the dude did with his own car. Either he was too poor of a driver, too timid or I just didn't give a damn.

That car belongs to Ron Conrad. The voltage regulator crapped out a smoked his instrument cluster so he co-drove a Cobra kit car with a local guy. That car is insane. Been a race car since New.

Yep, friends with him on facebook.

I see it's time to re-apply the filter :kissyou:

00 is an abbreviation not slang. Yes, it should have been '00.
cat is an acronym, not slang. Yes, it should have been CAT.

I'm not even sure what ""dizzy"" is. I assumed it meant distributor.
I hadn't heard it until about a month ago. No-one I talk to calls a distributor a ""Dizzy"". Is this a tuner spillover?

Cat is not an acronym unless you can tell me what word each of the letters stands for. In fact, it's an abbreviation. It should be capitalized or left uncapitalized just like the phrase "catalytic converter" would be at the same point in the sentence.

That thing has to have like half a million miles on it. I thought he had somewhere around 200K on it when I was in the SCCA... '98, '99? Something like that. Really nice guy.
