Important

I won't even put the trans and tcase in my wife's 2000 XJ.

lol. this way I get to see the littlest new kman too.

He has $100 in it.

The history of this motor is that it came via Dan and something he parted out.

Has all the accessories on it.

oh yeah, that is a helluva good running motor, it came out of the jeep I parted for my rear quarters on my jeep, and the front clip hangs on my wall.

You have obviously never had anything as nice as an 04 LJ...

mac 'wish I had a small trailer that was worthy of the trip...' gyvr

you need to build a heavy duty rack for your hitch, or buy a little trailer. I like my little trailer.

I have been kinda sorta looking at this trailer. i need something to transport crap from Menard's. turn the jeep into a pick up truck.

I've been looking at those too, can't hardly beat the price on the Harbor Freight ones. Throw a sheet of treated plywood on it and maybe build some sides since it already has the pockets. Tractor Supply has some pretty nice utility trailers but I can't really justify $800-1200 for one. I'm planning to scope out a 4x6 on craigslist this weekend, I didn't realize how much I used a truck until I got rid of mine.

Oh also you might be interested in this, little more capacity and 12" wheels instead of the 8" for not much more.

I bought this trailer off cl for $185, put ~$50 into building sides. It works well for a lot of things but I bent the tongue on my last trip to scrap. Have welder, can fix.

Funny how that works. That's pretty much why I sold my Suburban.

There's no perfect answer, I knew it would be a compromise but a utility trailer will still be less than one month's payment on the truck. Plus the XJ should have no problem hauling it, though it will probably be a whole ordeal to get a hitch and get it installed though!

I really like that! Did you get lucky and run across it one day or had you been looking for a while?

I must have over looked that one. thats a better deal because who knows how much id load it up...

Yup. Going to Jeep blessing at 3 weeks old!!!!! I'm not wheeling anything though, I am going to ride with my brother in law through the course, so i get to help him cut fenders, install a hitch and ditch his sway bar this weekend.

Looking for someone along either i70 or i80 that could snag a transmission off a truck from DrMoab and hold it till I can arrange for it to be picked up or pick it up myself...

This is just a thought, but is pulling a camper with a ball attached to the bumper good? This is not anything concrete just thinking. If I come to WF in 2015 and have a friend with a camper, my dad has a 01 Ram 1500 with the 318 I could possibly borrow. I am not a fan of bumper pulling, much prefer a frame attached hitch. If I ever become owner of said truck, it will be getting a frame attached hitch.

depends on the bumper on the truck and the camper.

Agree 100% with Dan. Grandpas 87 F150 has a 250/3000lbs (or something like that) limit on the bumper. I sure as hell wouldnt be afraid of doing it either.

ya'll love your xj's too much :) i've become pretty lazy when it comes to changing the oil in mine. probably shouldn't be as lazy given my current location, but i've still got 1k before i hit 3000 on this change. i was always good about changing the subie every 3-3500...but i think i forgot to change the oil in the xj once for about 6 months. stupid i realize (for someone who drives as much as i did) but i was a lot busier at that time. longest brainfart was over 10k...im sure the oil was pretty nasty coming out, but i didn't see it since i didn't change it. i was on a cross country road trip and realized it had been a while. when i looked at the sticker, i found the next town and got a full lube service. funny thing is i asked the guys how low it was and how bad the oil looked...they said oil looked pretty good and it was less than 1/2 quart low. at this point my xj and the motor inside of it owe me nothing...i've been waiting for this motor to come apart and haven't been as good about maintenance since 200k...but i have a feeling there is still quite a bit of life left in there.

Its pretty easy to keep up on it when you work at a shop... :D

if anyone is into hockey and needs gear... ive always recommended peranis. but after a recent mix up in shipping, ill go no where else. i scored a set of new skates for $89, originally MSRPed for over $350.

these guys take care of their customers, and located in the MW!

I guess this all makes sense. I was only assuming he was planning on bumper pulling from an XJ. Dunno how that would be done in the first place, so I'm not sure what I was thinking.

Adam, if it's your dad's Dodge, I'm sure you'll be fine.

That's good stuff! It's great to find a company so eager to please their customers. Of course, I've ran into that on Ebay and Amazon, but those aren't huge retailers usually.

A friend of mine has one. The frame is thin... real thin. The whole thing flexes like crazy without any plywood attached to it. You can watch the hinge area bend and flex when you are going down the road with it loaded on the lovely roads in our area.

Guess I need Dylan to let me know if he wants the motor or not so I can get the wheels in motion to get things together to make it happen.

I had like $200 in the little trailer I sold nathan. 4x4 feet with treated 1x4 sides.

I am only thinking in my head now for future. It doesn't have brake light connecter yet also. I need to buy a ball insert for my XJ hitch and the brake light connecter also. The ball on the truck's bumper is a 2" and says it is rated up to 3500 pounds. I imagine if I get a class III hitch I can tow even more if I need to.

His truck is 2wd but sits this tall

It has a topper that is level with the cab up front and a few feet taller at the back. If I come to WF 15 camping and don't have anything, might just borrow it and put a heater in the bed. Has just under 100k on it also. Other then a few scratches from when he tried to take the topper off himself (wish he hadn't), dash cracking from sun damage and a check engine light. It is in really good shape.

The topper is shaped like this.
