Important

You don't want the receiver to fit too tight. A little slop won't hurt anything and there is nothing worse than a hitch getting stuck due to rust and dirt.

THIS. Mine are loose too but has never affected anything when towing. I have to clearance the cross member a touch up front to slide in a winch plate but I have no complaints other than that. I'm super happy with my JCR stuff. I've abused the rear bumper much more than the front and the carrier still swings like a dream.

I like how you worded that.

had a little exhaust blow out on the way to nyc yesterday...my redneck patch i put in a year ago decided to let go :( i have a spare downpipe that i brought with me but by the time i was able to get anyones number along i-80 i was already in western indiana. so i drove from illinois to new york with exhaust pretty much dumping out of the downpipe. it was a loud ride to say the least! but the old gal made it just fine.

I DDed my MJ from south central Mass to Manhattan (well, weekly drove, I guess) for months with a hole the size of a quarter in the downpipe where my front driveshaft got a little too friendly with it. Never even got a second glance from the police, at least in Manhattan.

<chuckle> I had a catalytic converter plug up and split on an '84 Fiero GT while I was southbound through Ohio, heading for a week's work west of Nashville. More or less an open collector, and rather noisy. When I pulled into the hotel, checked in, then parked in front of the room, the first thing I saw was a burly Tennessee state trooper, hitching up his gun belt and saying "What part of Michigan you from, boy?"

Sweet Jesus, this is *ALL* I need.

Turns out that his wife came from Michigan, and he was just wondering if there was any chance I came from her neck of the woods. He wasn't giving me any grief over the noise.

I finally got it fixed a few hundred miles later on my way north through Chicago.

So how much better fuel mileage will this give the truck and trailer...

All I'm keeping is the wing, the rest is booger welded...ill make it with fresh steel and booger welds.

had a u joint go out this morning. got a new one in slapped the drive shaft back in, bout half way home heard the same clunk i heard this morning... WTF. i get out and the damn u joint fell apart again. it looks as though the little tab that holds the ujoint is not there, i didn't notice it this afternoon. guess ill have to swap a new yolk on, unless there is another way to fix this problem? good thing i have the other axle in the garage to pull stuff off of.

Either swap a new yoke on, or tack weld a washer into the yoke that will hold the cap in. Careful, it is very easy to accidentally tack weld the ujoint cap in as well!

PS: minor english nazi nitpick - eggs have yolks, axleshafts and driveshafts have yokes :spin1:

you know i thought there was a different spelling for it... lol

washers huh. ya know i remember seeing these for the front axle shafts, guess i can just rig something up for the rear driveshaft.
