Important

the new bearings vs used bearings preload is different. Personally I'd make a set of setup bearings out of brand new bearings from the same lot as the ones you'll be using on final install, they aren't very expensive and that way your preload and pinion depth differences from the setup bearings to the final setup bearings are as minimal as possible.

Sometimes you have to stop thinking so damn much.

Day 3 phone calls will commence this afternoon... I really feel I have my agent on my side, but its national we still have to fight.

The rear lower quarter on the driver-side of the Heep is toast... Thinking of cutting it off at the lower fold in the body line and welding some new sheet up into the hole it will open. Will also have so sand and primer-bomb the backside to remove the rust that's there...

I'm new to the whole body-work deal, what gauge sheet should I use?

yesterday it was 60 and rainy all day, woke up this moring with 4-5 inches of snow and school is cancelled.....Camille and Case are going to chill at home and go play in the SxS in the snow I am sure...while I have to work..boo hoo...

Mid 20s here, no snow overnight, although up to an inch was predicted.

For the last few years, I've been buying rock salt in a 100 lb. barrel for the house. Easy storage and relatively cheap. The local hardware store isn't carrying it any more, it's all in 10 and 20 lb. bags. I need to find an alternate source.

Getting hit down here pretty good Jeff. Really bad time to be house breaking a puppy.

Here's what I'm dealing with...

I laughed a little because a friend of mine just got a puppy and they told me they are letting it do its thang in the house because its too cold out there for the puppy...:dunno:

Austin, looking at where your rust is this cut and fold thread might help you

http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29750&highlight=cut+fold+quarters

it looks like the rust is right below where this guy cut

Thats exactly what I'm doing only instead of folding there, I'm cutting it off and welding in 16ga. I have a little bit above that line, I'm hoping I can just grind that down and paint over it. If not, I'll just have to cut that out too...

Having the F150 has really given me the confidence to hack on the Jeep. After WinterFest I'll be ripping out the interior to hack the floor boards... I know They have at least some bad surface rust, but from underneath, I do not see any holes... Yet...

Find where your county stores it and "borrow" some...

my rear quarters had a hole the size of a baseball in them when i took my plastic. wish i would have had a welder back then to weld instead of rivet....i may fix that this year and just cut the old metal out and weld some new 16 ga in

16ga is a bit heavier than stock bodywork sheetmetal... I'd say 18 or 20 is stock for body panels, 16 or so for floors. It's too thin I know that much.

I like to make sure the old metal is lapped over the new metal so I am welding through the paper thin metal into a known good piece of 16ga. Makes it so I only blow through every few inches instead of every quarter inch :farmer:
