For sure. Cool as hell. But that would be quite the feat. The front axle goes through the oil pan on them bad-boys. Engineers...

6.8 hours of labor to R&R that assembly.

The SSR was built on the same platform though they only came with 2wd and V8s, the hole is still in the oil pan.

Better take some pics and post them!

I failed. I took some on my phone but I keep leaving it in the jeep when I was spotting someone. I flogged my jeep like it was wearing a ball gag. Now my trac bar mount is all poppy. It was so worth it. For the most part it climbed anything I pointed it at. Had to give up on some climbs since the guy behind me had an aversion to body damage and was on 33"s.

117 rigs and nearly 300 people donated at least 2 refrigerator boxes full of toys. Quite a few kids in Bourbon county will have a Christmas this year.

At the moment, it's not looking good for the Vi-Queens. Just tuned in after MN scored for the first time.... 21-7 and wasn't even the end of the first quarter.

Got 2 kettles boiling, a nut brown and a winter spiced ale. It's a really nice day outside, as long as I don't have to go slogging through the snow, it's up to 34 degrees outside, and the snow is melting and very wet.

While we were at Northern Brewer yesterday, I got chastised somewhat for not being ready/able to do partial mash and or all-grain. Looks like I really need to get busy on the brew sculpture I've been thinking about for over a year.

2 ways to do that. One is to go find your local home brew shop (yes, I know where Reed City is, you may want to consider the second.) The other way is to go mail order. There's a thread running in Non-Tech that's got some pointers.

Personally, given that you're out in the sticks, I'd order a good kit from Norther Brewer, Midwest Supply, Austin Brewing, or MoreBeer. I'm sort of biased towards NB, I've had great service & products from them. Doesn't hurt that one of their retail stores is only a few minutes off my commute home

I'd also highly suggest _How to Brew_ by John Palmer. He does make it available freely online, I like the dead tree edition.

My brother uses Midwest Supply. I am always happy with his brews. Happier than he is sometimes. But most people are harder on themselves than others are. Anyway, he likes to experiment and change recipes around a little. As far as I can tell, he's very happy with Midwest Supply.

I'd stay away from those janky "Mr. Beer" kits you see at Fleet Farm and Wally World and such. Seems to be kinda like kindergarten stuff as far as home brewing goes.

I grew up northeast of Traverse City, and I've gone up & down US-131 more times than I can count.

Technically speaking, a "Mr. Beer" will deliver a fermented beverage consisting of water, malt, hops and yeast. These are not known for being high quality kits.

Something else to think about, see if you can find a home brew club in the area. If you can, you can almost certainly observe the brewing process (you want an extract brew for your first, not an all-grain, IMO.) Unfortunately, it seems that there's probably nothing local. GR, Kzoo, Holland/Zeeland, Midland, Bay City and the armpit of the state all have clubs, but being out in the middle of nowhere sort of leaves you short.

I grew up in Antrim County, and most of my relatives are in the Traverse City area and up on the Leelanau Peninsula. And there's a small group of shirt-tail relations up in Emmet County near Petoskey (lived there for 6 years.)

If you're willing to wait, keep your eyes open for lesslimited's next BrewFest.

Come to think of it, you also missed an absolutely golden opportunity for Teach a Friend to Brew day, first Saturday in November. Here in the Twin Cities, I know of at least 2 different sites that were running, with at least 6 different brew demonstrations. I suspect there were more.

There's also Big Brew, May 5, 2012. That'd also be a good time to go see home brewer's in action. The MN Homebrewers has been able to use the parking lot at Flat Earth Brewing in the past.
