The A-10 is the baddest mofo on the block! :patriot:

I also used to live off the end of a runway. I enjoy planes, I like flying, I generally don't even hear them anymore. I looked up one day when the sunny day suddenly got dark and saw nothing but the bottom side of a Hurc. I loved it!

But I don't much care for A-10s. They fell out of the sky and hit a Forest full of ugly trees. They are noisy, slow, and annoying. We had them after the Vietnam war. I'm glad some other city has them. A sortie of them flew over at 2am at tree top one morning just after Bush1 started the 1st Iraq skirmish. Scared the living crap out of me. Nope, If I never see another "Wart Hog" I'll be a happy man.

Glad the NG got rid of all of them and replaced them with F-16s and Blackhawks.

They are something about being able to see the the smile on the plane and the rumble of a formation of 5 or so is a very awe inspiring. The scout camp I spent quite a few summers at was pretty close to Whiteman AFB. They would always fly over. Story is they use the scout camp as training runs since it's set up similarly to a military base.

Use to get to see the Stealth Bomber everyonce in a while. Usually hear it after it's just a small triangle in the sky. Crazy how quiet it is while it's over head.

I lived by a cemetery and it was dead quiet. True story.

I have one two doors down. Its a great neighbor. Never loud. Doesn't care if you are loud. No one there has noticed the trailer yet. Its a pretty good deal...at least until the zombies attack...

I live next to a railroad track and a skeet shoot club. I hear guns and trains daily. While I was in college I lived in a house like 20 feet from the tracks in Vincennes. Trains go through there like every hour. I could sleep through anything now.

In other news. The belt on the jeeps squeeking loud. Ive cleaned pulleys. tried a different belt I had. No dice. I can clean it and itll quit for a bit but then come back. Sandpaper on the belt helps for a bit too. I think Im going to try a new belt next. Any other thoughts?

I grew up next to a railroad track. Hated it. Every house I lived in growing up was close to railroad track...I think maybe my parents liked it??? Dunno. I am pretty far a way from a track in MY house...except for the rail yard about 3 miles away as the crow flies...but the only thing I can hear is train cars slamming together every once in a while.

If you figure that belt out...let me know...the popcan is doing the same thing...I've yet to solve it. I've been through three difference idler pulled, rebuild the alternator, changed the water pump...I'm thinking the belt is really cheap and maybe thats it...dunno...

It's extremely quiet where I live. My nearest year round neighbor is over a mile away. I can even hear the deer bellowing at each other across the hill from me. I LOVE It

Its slows down from recoil when the cannons fire! Thats a bad mofo! Just sayin'.....:D

I used to live about 1/2 mile from a semi busy road. During the day, traffic noise all the time. Come home at midnight and it was somewhat quiet. Where I live now it is quiet most of the time. Come home at midnight and it is crazy quiet. I love it.

I can see both U.S. 51 and I-90/39 from my back deck.
I sit out there in the summer and in my own sick and twisted ways I can convince myself that it is the ocean I am listening to.....

no neighbors close by to speak of (some of you can attest that have been to visit)

Camilles grandmothers house was built at the time the railroad came through...it is only like 100' or less from the tracks. What is amazing is that her house shakes like crazy when trains run by, but the foundation is still soild and sound as can be. We lived there on a few different occassions beteween moves and I got used to the trains...you can actually start to tell the conductors by the way they blow the horn...and the newbie drivers lay on it for ever....

on a side note, Case is sick and has gone through 3 sets of sheets on his bed, one on our bed and a fleece blanket in the living room....he has my personal barfing record beat. Poor little fella looks adnd feels miserable.

I live underneath an 844 foot flight deck with jets and helicopters taking off and landing on it 12 hours a day.
Winner!

Not good. Get that little guy feeling better!

I smile every time I see that vid, always expecting jeeps. LOL.
glad you like it... it's a pretty catchy tune and I generally catch people with it :laugh2:

that is a tribute to either the compaction caused by the railroad early on, or the skill of the mason... they must have done a really good job of putting the footings down without disturbing the ground they are on.

My parents house is only about a half mile from the tracks going through Haverhill MA up to the NH border, I used to hear trains go by all the time as a kid. They are 2 blocks from a fire station too. I sleep through anything now, including my alarm :o

sucks, I hate feeling like that. Hope he gets better soon.

Last time that happened to me it got to the point that I just kept a 5 gallon home depot pail next to the bed and slept diagonally with my face real close to it. Usually woke up in time to get it all in the bucket. :puke:

Its so damn peaceful out there! Its like the back of our Property in KY. Quiet and serene with an occasional truck passing by. Hoping Case feels better soon!

I live on a busy road. In this house and my last house were on busy roads. Makes it nice to hang out because the neighbors are used to the noise so you have to be REALLY loud to cause a rukus...

John never asked if I had done it before.:twak:

Yes, it works after I put it together:

I didn't even have any screws left over.

These are the sorts of perks you get by having red letters for your name.
It's on it's way back to it's owner for the cost of shipping.

Well now I feel bad. Daughter went out to put some feed out for the deer and flying squirrels. She put it on a metal box that I have out by my wood boiler. The deer left behind a little skin from their tongues licking the corn off the box. I think it had something to do with the -2 temp out this AM.

ooops.
