Important

Almost had to stop and give a witness statement this morning on the way to work. I have to wonder.....

Highway 52 is a 4 lane boulevard, not quite a limited access freeway. 2 lanes northbound, 2 lanes southbound with a wide grass median between them. Southbound, a semi-tractor/trailer, a small sedan, gap in traffic....... and a MN State Trooper zipping down the left lane with all his lights going. The sedan pulls out to pass the semi. No turn signal. The trooper was right on their bumper before they even got along side the semi. I don't know how hard he had to brake to avoid hitting them, but the sedan just sort of mosied along, didn't try to get out of the trooper's way at all. I'm not sure they even realized the trooper was there.

I get cut off like that all the time, but then again I don't have more lights than the ghostbustersmobile on my jeep. It pisses me off that people that oblivious are allowed to drive.

Been having an issue with the locals running their brights IN CITY... Next one that does it is getting the full fury of the Hellas...

A moment of silence for a 4.0L today.

My friend Kevin (GunsUp, here and the one other dark person at WF10). Had the 4.0L in his ZJ crap out last night. It had been making a little noise for a couple of weeks, but nothing more major than what sounds like cold lifter tick. After leaving my place last night it died going down the road with a clunk with no opportunity for a parking lot to pull into and it wouldn't re-crank.

I get bundled in the -5 temps and go pull up behind him with my flashers on so he has somewhere warm to sit while the tow truck arrives. Cops pull up and tells me I can push him to the next intersection into the next parking lot with the XJ (Gotta be careful in WI about that due to tow licenses). It got loaded onto a rollback at 12 am last night, no word on a diagnosis yet.

It hasn't been lack of maintenance, but possibly prior history or cold starts and lack of warming up to get condensation out of the oil. 176k miles. Also the problem wasn't being ignored, just hadn't gotten around to getting fixed quite yet and was being driven as least as possible. I can only think that the arctic temps here made it worse.

So its got me worried now since mine is the same year with 220k on it. I can just hope for the best but it doesn't make bad noises.

Geez, he just can't catch a break, can he?

I guess not. He sees positive about it all though.

Test drove an 03 WJ overland today, its nice but I don't think I'm gonna get a good rate on it so some other person will get it. Has 106k, full skids, rails, tow points and all the cushy stuff inside. not too upset if I don't get it, more money toward a house at the end of the year. My jeep is fine so no worry there.

Remote from Cleveland, Ohio

Its butt cold here but the beer is even colder!

My axles were already built, but I still need to fab the rear suspension. It's a time crunch for sure. I really hope to get it mostly finished this weekend. For the most part it's mocked up. I need to build a shock crossmember, and get shocks ordered so I'll have them in time.
Good Luck Nate, Glad to hear someone is close to being ready..What axles are you installing?

Keep at it Nick...... These projects always take longer than anticipated.

Off to the garage try and figure out and repair the wiring that was cut along with the top.

Hey Jim ,Good to hear from you.. Yeah, this project is taking way longer than first anticipated.
Good luck on the wiring..Damn shame the Ho Sawzall battery went the length...If only it fizzled out before the wiring harness.:D

WF2011 or BUST

we just got back this evening from the annual County Extension Ag Night. It was a great time and had good food. There was a pie and cake auction...I paid $50 for a coconut cream pie......it all goes to supporting a good cause. The good thing is Camille does not like that pie, so it is all for Case and me!!

Diagnosis is that it's seized. Not sure what he's gonna do about it yet.

Aaron, you'll love the Overland. There's only three options on those for the most part: Adjustable pedals, Nav, and towing pkg. And on all of them the Up Country suspension was standard, but a stock height one was a no charge option on later ones. Everything else was standard equip. I ended up buying mine outright. I figured on a 8 year old vehicle it was better than financing, though I understand if that isn't in your cards, I had been saving.

Seems you already know about the blend doors, and the heated seats can be hit or miss too. Everything else is pretty solid.

I might as well have fun with the Jeep. Most likely I'm going to temporarily swap in a junkyard motor and keep mine for a stroker build. Build it, beat on it, break it, repeat.

that's a pretty truck Brendon, I'll go over there tomorrow and take a look, and I might even look under for a T-Case. :D

then, when you come up to buy it, it will be beer time in MI.

The bench seat rear on a KR is rare. That leather definitely needs some love. My '05 runs very well, no 6.0 issues like a 03/04.

Brian, it is upcountry and has adjustable pedals and a tow package. I figure it'll be a good departure from driving a battle tank every day(which I love). It is nearly perfect inside and out. For 8k, i think its a very good deal. Now, the real question is: Can I get financed without a cosigner or a lien? I refuse to do a lien and would only ask for a cosigner if it was my only choice. My jeep is still running and driving fine so If either of those situations come up, I'm gonna walk.

Here she is for those who haven't seen it:

I'd rather get a house but for the price, I don't know if I can pass it up.

Houses generaly go up in value, cars don't. I am very happy with my paid off 95 escort wagon that gets 30mpg.......Cars are a very bad investment.
