Important

they are junk...I have 3 Nissan chore trucks and everyone of them have blown at least one tranny...and the extended cab has in #3 right now...at $850 a pop and not including the time and effort to put them in. Theese littel trucks will run forever if regular maintence is kept up, but they have problematic trannys and it is a noted down fall for them. But, $850 is better then buying another truck to repalce it w/ for $5-6K. These little 4x4 rucks are great b/c they are pretty cheap and go places a 4 wheeler will, and they have heat and A/C! :D I wish there was a HD tranny for them, but seeing how they are somewhat a disposable vehicle, it is probably not an option.

Autos I assume? Seems like a company would have to work really hard to make a junk manual tranny...

nope, all are manual trannys. Something internally goes bad and they will not hold themself in gear. They start popping out of gear at low RPMS and then it progresses to not staying in gear at all...to rebuild one w/ the few parts it needs is as much or more then to buy a totally rebuilt one. It is a wierd thing b/c one truck started having problems at 85K miles while another lasted to 260K...who knows...

Sounds like synchros...How can that happen, and at significantly different intervals?! Maybe it's a loose nut behind the wheel?

Well, Approximately 30 hours later and the XJ has a new Head unit and The Surco has been mounted. The rails will be coming off the old jeep so I can weld on a new pinch seam mount on the drivers side one and get them on the new Jeep. I must say that 31's on 3.55's is not bad at all. This Jeep actually seems to have more power than the original Jeep did with 2 inches more tire under it! 4.10's oughta make it move pretty quickly!

you will love 4.10's when you bump from 3.55's.

It is snowing like crazy out right now..schools are already closing for tomorrow...

Just gotta find me an 8.8 and a 4 banger front axle and its on like donkey kong! That snow is coming our way. We are supposed to have 4-6 inches by tomorrow night.

Well, I think I am gonna head home..been a long day at the office. Aaron, why dont ya just buy my axles? D30/8.25 combo, 4.10's, rear disc conversion, big u-joint shafts up front, powertrax lockers each end blah blah blah....I am wanting to go deeper gears, so maybe a cash/stock axle trade of sorts??? hmm..hmm..ya like what your hearing?? PM me if any interest at all so we dont clutter up this thread :D

Yeah! No clutter allowed in this thread!

:D

Hey, get back to brewing Beer and playing with wood! :laugh3:

Already brewed a batch of beer tonight.

And I'll play with my wood when I damn well feel like it!

did that once on a public bus. they kicked me off.

that didnt really happen. but it would be a cool story for the grandkids.

Wifey called me this morning and the neighbors well/pump house door blew open last night. They have frozen lines to their house and livestock...sucks to be them. I offered my salamander heater to help thaw things out, but I have a feeling they will have some busted lines :( I offered up some of my open pasture that has functioning water tanks on it to them, so it looks like we will be moving cattle today to help them out....did I mention I hate 0 degree temps w/ 30 mph winds? :D

I had all my employees come in at 5 for "overtime" this morning.
They all caught on today that the snow started at 6 and they are all here, most of which would have called in........:D

Took the new whip out for a snow ride today, no wheeling just riding around town before the streets were cleared. I like the Kumho's in the snow. They clear really well and have good grip unless i don't want them to! :D

nice work Brian...one of my coworkers called in this morning and said that he did not know that the roads were going to be slick, so it would be another hour or two before he could make it in......it has been snowing for 24 hours here, I dont know how he missed that :dunce:
