Important

Don't even get me started... they don't crush them, they drain the oil and fill the engines with sodium silicate and run them till the engine seizes. I spent a couple hours watching Youtube vids of it, it's downright painful to see. Lots of perfectly fine cars made useless... saw a 735i, a nice Volvo (XC70?) and a WJ ran till they choked. And quite a few XJs.

It's great because a lot of the vehicles I saw destroyed, I'd probably be willing to pay $4500 for. And I guess, in a way I'm still paying for them. Local news ran a story and they showed a TJ as an example of a poor-mileage vehicle that would be eligible for C4C... right... before I saw the light and bought an XJ, I looked for a TJ and couldn't find one for under $4500...

I am torn with this program b/c #1, I am pissed that we, the tax payers, are footing the bill on this. #2 is b/c we looked at trading in our 2003 Z71 Tahoe and the dealers said they would give us $3500-4500 for it..meaning they would C4C it...that pissed me off b/c this was damn near a $45K vehicle 6 years ago and now they are comparing it to a scrap pile...pisses me off. One dealer told me that they would match the C4C money and that would give me $9K for it on trade..which is way better then any out right trade that has been made to us thus far. So, at this point I am almost to the opiont of saying "if ya cant beat them, join them" ...but whats next..welfare for everyone..oh wait, that is basically already happening...:anon:

That's just stupid... surely the dealership could pay your $4500 for your Tahoe, and then turn around and put it on the lot for $10k the next day? Hell when I was looking at new body hoes I couldn't find a decent '03 or newer for under about $14k. I would gladly pay you $4500 for your Tahoe... it gets like 14mpg right? That's like a 30% increase for me :)

The dealer that would match it, was a Chrysler dealership? Only downside there is that you walk away with a Chrysler...

Yup, it was the Chrysler dealer, but they talked like they would work it on a Grand Cherokee as well...so that had my interest for a moment. I dont have much faith in car dealers or sales people b/c this kid did not know jack shit about what he was talking about and originally told me that they would 2x the C4C on a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon....not so much there pal....

Yeah, a lot of those vehicles are still outright worth $4500, I'd be happy to pay that for a TJ, resale on those are insane.

I'll let you speculate before I say what happened.

Ouch!

Speaking of storms, round 4 is rolling in right now. This happened in round 3. I hope it holds until the utility's crew gets out here to get the smaller limbs off the line. If it comes down on its own... my day is really going to suck.

Looks like it found something involving concrete! You should invest in some rails!

6" in 75 minutes? That's a real gully washer.

Ok, here goes, rails would not have helped in this situation. Not when the object that hits you is a big white barn backing up your driveway faster than you would think is possible. Fed Ex truck nailed it, as I was sitting in it getting ready to leave for work. I never saw him until he was about 10 feet from me. I pulled the shift handle off trying to rip it into gear when I did see him. I am okay though he did jolt me good, think my neck is a lil tight tho. It might be totalled because its a 2dr and the sheet metal behind the door is torn and very well f'ed. If it had been a four door, i'd probably be looking at two new doors and just a lil sheet metal damage. But I'm expecting the worst, and I'm keeping this one no matter what and gonna pick up another one and swap all this stuff over. I've put so much of my time into it and it sucks to see that happen. That shadow is a '89 Cutlass which I drove in HS and we are getting rid of finally, why couldn't he hit that.

Nice shop rig!

Make doggoned sure that you don't lose out on *ANYTHING*, Brian. You are entitled to be "made whole" by FedEx & their insurance. If the adjuster makes noises about totalling your rig, tell him that he either needs to find an identically equipped vehicle (lotsa luck there,) or be prepared to move the modifications over to a replacement.

And make sure your medical visit is covered.

CEL&P to the rescue. Now instead of a limb on the roof, I've got 2 sections of gutter smashed, and a limb where a porch window would normally be. Can't get out the back door because they piled the limbs on the porch, and they buried the CA unit under a pile of brush. I'm not very happy.
