Important

16 or so years ago, I was using a cargo trailer for work. Brand new, nice and shiny, had it parked in the driveway. One of the neighbors complained, and there was a village ordinance, so I had to put in the side drive so I could put it next to the house.

Picked up an E350 for $500, that ran great (didn't look like it was worth even $300) and kept that in the front driveway for a couple years, de-beaterized it a little, then sold it for $1200 :D

Even in po-dunk USA, population 1300, we have the same retarted ordinance. It is only upheld if the city ordinance officer has a beef with you or if your whiney ass neighbors complain. I am so glad I live in the country :farmer: My nearest neighbor is about a mile away :D

That is the definition of where I live....

It is one of the village cops who does it. Stupid thing about it. It is sitting on my concrete driveway next to my trailer.. which has expired tags and a flat tire. Nothing was said.. On the trailer is my XJ that is missing its gas tank and has been sitting on the trailer since Memorial Day.

I have a sneaking feeling that it is more about the pile of axle housings and various parts in the bed of Comanche more than anything.

This is the proper lubricant for differentials, right?

I picked up some '79 bronco axles with 5.13 gears for $200 yesterday, mostly for the rear axle, which is not broken. He'd told me the front gears were broke, I just didn't expect that bad. I've already got a '77 F150 front axle anyway, so I didn't really need much off of this one, but I did want the rear.

Basically I got a complete 9" with 5.13 gears, and front high ratio carrier and spare shafts, plus a pile of scrap metal, for $200 + a tank of gas.

5.13 gears... Sweet! What size tire are you gonna run?

Whew! I assumed those were XJ remnants. Good deal!

Nice find, I would like to get into the 5's w/ my gearing, but the D60's are not making their way under the rig any too fast at the moment. Thinking about saving them for the next project......

Made it to 1000

Nuts.... just got a call that Dad's been loaded into an ambulance 15 minutes ago. <crosses fingers> He's not doing well.

I should play the lottery, from the way this site makes it sound, no one gets their upper shock bolts out. All four of mine came out albeit a little cruddy and they will be replaced. Chased the threads with a tap and we'll be good to go.

Not good to hear Jeff, fingers crossed

Brian, you SUCK! Those bolts never come out!

Here's a tip: hit those bolts liberally with anti-seize.

The wife and I went out to eat with some friends last night at Tony Roma's. I am not impressed. Went to the casino afterwards. Walked in with $40.00 and went to the black jack tables. Walked out two hours later with $2500.00!!!!! Not to bad for not going to a casino for almost eight years.:D Now to find a new trailer for hauling the jeep.

Got a little more info on Dad this morning. Serious, but not immediately life threatening. Staphylococcus aureus in his elbow (ruptured a bursa there several weeks ago,) and Vancomycin resistant enterococcus elsewhere. He's in isolation for everybody else's protection, and on a heart monitor. He'll get checked out for strokes as well.

Meanwhile, my brother & sisters are going to completely disinfect the house. Neither of those strains of bug should be trifled with.
