Important

What all did you get Nick? The yards here are full of them.

For the xj : two front driveshafts, front corner turn lights, oil pressure sending unit, window cranks, air bag sensor(son's 99),mirror mounts.

For the zj: trailer hitch, and some bling (chrome grille). Should be towing my heap soon.

My son's car: a trans solenoid pack for 5.00 bucks. Saved 164.00 on just this part.

Theres a wrecked 2000 xj sitting there with a 4.0 engine looked good .Don't know the miles. Thinkin' bout snagging it.

I hear the CARS program you can't sell complete and theres no titles.

Soooooo... Get the goodies while it lasts.

The CARS vehicles can't be sold complete. The yard told us that they can sell every part of one except the engine or tranny.

What kind of ZJ did you get? You probably posted the details here, but I'm a lazy fuque to go find them... I'm trying to find excuses to ditch the antique Ferd. But after flat towing a couple of XJ's with my ZJ, it has me real nervous about towing the trailer and heep.

Yep still feeding them also working on fencing in more area to add more cows

APBT = American Pit Bull Terrier
I think

You must be working real hard Jeff! APBT is a pitbull you are correct!

Gotta 96 ZJ 5.2 ,dana 44 rear,all disc brakes ...

Thinkin' it will tow the heep just fine.( With the correct trailer and braking specs)

Nick, If you are gonna start trailering the XJ you better Cage it! Nothing holding you back kinda scares me! :D

Hope you have a light trailer. I won't tow with the wife's Durango even though technically it is capable. I like to have overkill.

No trailer yet... Will be all alum. for weight reduction.

I know theres a fine line and I'am there...

You can sell the trany. You can sell everything but the motor and cab or car shell.

Are you forgetting what Nick does for a living?

If he can drive a truck through the tard-filled Chicago traffic, I'm pretty sure a ZJ near it's GCWR won't be a problem :D

Got a new guage installed.

That really should go to 11 :D

Stopped for fuel on the way home from my JCR trip and a single cab Ford pickup pulled up to the next set of pumps. The driver, a baby (in a pumpkin seat) and two others were in the cab. Then the driver walks around to the camper shell, and opens it. 3 more mexicans get out of the back end. They were pulling a trailer, not sure what was in the trailer. The bed of the truck was packed full of crap, I don't see how in the world it had room for 3 cans.

Didn't get any pics of the actual Mexicans. I snaged pics while they were inside.........and still got dirty looks when they returned.

My trailer is 1680# empty, 14', steel frame, wooden deck and open center. An aluminum one could get you under 1000# maybe. Some air bags in the rear of the ZJ and front-loading the trailer a little to get some tongue weight will help with it swaying. A weight-distributing hitch w/ anti-sway bars should also help you a ton, but they don't give 'em away. The 5.2 will easily have the power and the discs + trailer brakes will stop you fine, but that short wheelbase will get fun on a windy day or in an emergency stop. Take it easy and be careful and you should be fine until you can get a 1-ton diesel :D

Good point John. I handle a set of doubles (80,000 )GVW with no problems. Pullin' a XJ with a ZJ should be a breeze...:D

Thanks Brad for the great info. If I decide to use the ZJ to tow .I wanna do it safely.

I have pulled the TJ and XJ for years w/ the Tahoe and it did great, but once I decided to start using my truck to pull with...I have to agree with Rev, once you pull w/ a longer wheelbase and heavier tow vehicle you will not go back :D I am pulling w/ a 3/4 ton crew cab short box and it pulls like a dream...that is a dream that consistantly stops every 275-300 miles for gas :D if I trusted my farm trucks to pull farther distances that are great b/c of the diesel power, but not so great on dependability due to abuse and age.
