Hey Kim I have the center piece of the airdam. You pay shipping and its all yours if you want it! Just need new rivets!

picked up this XJ for my brother today, it is from the Chicago impound yard. It is a 98 w/ 140K on it and really clean for an impound unit. Had to have a fuel pump put in it, but runs great now and all the power options work as they should. Even has a factory tranny cooler. I got it bought and delivered to Missouri including fuel pump for just under $2000. Not the best pics, but all I got at the moment.

I wish I found the deals you do! First the army trucks and now this.

Strikeout. Bolts were so seized I broke an impact socket. Going to have to cut them off with the torch. Since it was so late, TSC was already closed, so no new bolts tonight. Rather than tie up the lift tomorrow, we decided to work on it at a later time.

Figures.

Just wondering, do I need high temperature paint for axles, or is the stuff rated for 200 F good enough? I know they get hot, just not sure how hot.

I think I used Rustolemn(sp) on mine. It doesn't really matter, it's just going to rubbed/scraped off any way. JIM.

I agree with JIM, it wont be on there for long whether your wheeling it or mall crawlin' it. I used to put a better grade paing on my axles, now it is the $5 a can stuff. I think if a guy was really doing a super-duper job one might look into shooting them with POR-15, but that is way to fancy for my rig :D

Just gotta get out there and look around and do some networking. Alot of it falls in the area of "not what ya know, but WHO ya know" This latest XJ for my brother was just luck that I stumbled upon it, but now I have a source to get more of these from..so that is always good! I also told the guy I would take as many wrecked 97-01 units that he could send my way. I have better luck parting them out then I do fixing ones that were crashed hard.

You said salvage yard in Chicago?

nope, nothing said of salvage yards in Chicago. These units come from the city impound. The guy told me that to be able to buy from there it takes along time to get "on the list" and you have to "know people". I did not ask anymore questions after that. He said most all the vehicles are from drug dealers, prostitutes or gun violations. Very few are from unpaid tickets etc. He has a Cadillac CTS that is pretty damn nice that has a busted rear bumper cover and only wants like $5500 for it. That is the kind of deals he has going. This XJ that I picked up was actually impounded from unpaid tickets. It had about a dozen orange "violation" envelopes from the city of Chicago in it and half of them were not even opened. It was full of just crap...clothes, magazines, home items, lots of McDonalds bags and just crap like that. I dont undersatnd why the CD player is gone, but the face to the cd player was in the glove box.....smart theifs out there I tell ya....

Thats what I meant, impound yard. I'm just scouting a little, could be in the market for a cheap cherokee, preferrably without power windows 'n stuff.
