That's the only think I can think of, but the date hasn't been set yet to my knowledge.

So that is just for yuppies that don't actually pay for cable and use rabbit ears to get free cable?

Hell my grandma has nicer electronics computers etc than I do, she just gave me her old tivo after she updated to something.

Cliff notes:

If you have cable or satellite, you don't have to worry about it.

BUT...

the cable and satellite companies do.......that is where I come in.

I have to work toward switching the way we collect signals from analog to digital....

and of course.....almost none of the broadcasters have thier shit together.

If mine goes out, I know where to find the repairman......

the switchover to digital is going to be a charlie foxtrot.
of course, would we expect anything less from the FCC?

The switch over already is.
I have spent most of my days this year switching cell phone alarm dialers in remote locations.
The FCC told the cell phone carriers that they no longer HAD to support their analog systems, so all of the alarm monitoring companies saw a cash cow and stopped supporting their analog cell dialers.
So now theses people whith remote monitoring equipment have to purchace and install digital dialers.
Some of theses analog dialers were less than two years old, we just throw them in the trash.
That will be $800.00 please.....

yeah, all so the FCC could resell the frequencies that the AMPS system is on in a few years.

How is it that the government is allowed to profit from the sale of natural EM spectrum?

or the sale of wild animals to hunt, or the sale of fish to catch, or the sale of water to drink...

we are on a digital 800 mhz system at work...

they are moving us over to a digital 700 mhz...so that they can sell the 800 frequencies to the cell phone companies...

lots of $$...

My turn to stay home with the sick kid(s). Kim stayed home Tuesday and Wednesday with Liberty (ear infection) and Caitlyn came home early yesterday with a fever of 101. Of course it is going to be the nicest day this week (65* and sunny).
