LOTS of money in that field. Got a buddy that welds on pipeline.

yea, that's what i hear. im not looking to do that, just took this class because i figured having welding on the resume would be a plus to a penitential employer. not to mention it should help with the hobby of wheeling 20 year old jeeps.

i have been trying to push rew into it for a while now. welding that is, i just started pushing him on pipe fitter today. i think he just really likes selling car parts...

I told the welding teacher that was at my high school when I went there that I wished I would have taken his class. Same with auto shop (at least basic auto classes).

In welding class in High School, we would burn one when the teacher was in his office and use the handy dandy exhaust vents get rid of any residual odors. I had a lot of fun in high school. No f**ks were given about anything except working enough to fill my gas tank and the baggy I kept getting the A/C vent in the 72 LTD.

Good times.

I heard that smoking was pretty common in that room, on another hand that teacher did get arrested for Meth charges down the road though. Looking back, it would have been neat to at least learn the basics of welding.

When I was in school, meth was short for method.

If I happen to die in a suspicious death after the 1st of March, tell the police that my wife knows I have 238k in life insurance..... Crap, I need to watch my back everywhere now.

Supposed to get 3-6" tomorrow night. Wonder what happens then?

Easy, everything closes...

I am flying thru Atlanta Thursday night, supposed to get enough snow to cause problems. Should be fun...

I'm flying out of Indy Thursday morning...

Supposed to get a couple inches...

Should be interesting.

mac 'might lose it over de-icing' gyvr

..

that i can tell the class is set up for pipeline stuff. as a matter of fact, the teacher was just mentioning last night that a pipe fitter manager he knows was just telling him that they are in desperate need for young people. they have guys retiring every week and will soon be screwed.
Two of my best friends are pipe fitters, they've consistently made $120-200k, and are talking about retiring soon. They have worked in some incredibly crappy situations, nuke plants, coal power plants, Chicago rooftops in sub-zero weather, and places that smell so bad that you need to throw away the clothes you wear, but the money can make all that worthwhile.
