U MAD BRO? :D

Nope :D :D

I'm a ham and yes, this is a huge problem.

Mostly it's old cranky farts who mostly focus on "well back in MY day sonny...!"

I got my license for one reason, I wanted to be able to mess with electronics that use RF comms without the FCC landing on me. Ham radio USED to be about experimentation, research, and pushing the boundaries of communications, so limitations were put in place to keep people from building stuff that would interfere with other licensed radio spectrum users or causing problems for other experimenters.

Now? Most of that stuff has been learned and figured out (and commercialized - thus why you can talk to china on a cell phone, something that makes a lot of old cranky hams very angry when you bring it up) and ham is kinda stuck with the "we are researchers" crank contingent, while not actually researching anything.

If you want to just use the airwaves, get a cellphone, or a CB radio, or FRS, or GMRS, or any number of other products. Use it, it'll work, keep it clean, you're all set.

If you want to tweak and tinker and play around and learn stuff, ham is good because it makes it legal for you to do that, but you're going to run into a lot of very cranky old people and a lot of ignorant people as well. Thems the breaks.

Yep.

Well, the conspiracy theorist are claiming marital law will be in effect Oct 1.

It would be nice to have a different way to communicate other than cellular.

:D

Smoke signals?

I've been thinking about tracking down an old home base CB and antenna for SHTF kind of situations. The biggest issue with that is the real lack of other people using CBs. It just isn't the modern choice for cheap communications.

Cbs suck, am sucks. NFM and DSB are the way to go. Wish more people would drop the 1958 tech and step up to modern technology. Hell, a good gmrs radio is better than a cb...

89"60w amp and1.5 swr still sucked"laredo
Edit
Brain fart, not DSB.

I got a whopping hour of training to use a 800mhz radio, that I talk on daily conducting police business.

Same here. No license required to talk on that.

We are going down to the 700mhz soon (I think that's it) because 800mhz is going back to cell phones or tv or something...or its homeland security related.

I'd have more to comment, but I'm afraid people would start calling the FCC and telling.

mac 'other local businesses and wrecker companies use them too...legally? dunno' gyvr

Went and took wife to look at jeep compass today, not a bad little car. As much as I do not want a payment I want her to have a dependable ride.

Tree branch knocked my glasses off while mowing tonight...

I ended up driving over them, threw the mower, and finding them 30 min later crawling on my hands and knees...

Ok, so I thought the passenger side light I got for the trailer was bad, guess not. The parking lights light up(driver and passenger) and the brakes/turn signal on the drivers side work fine. With the parking lights off, I see a faint blink when the turn signal is on and when I puts the brake it faintly flashes a couple times and goes out completely. I'm at a loss. I ran new wiring on the trailer and bought new lights for it. They worked fine lady time I pulled a trailer with my Jeep...

Check your grounds.

I have, a bajillion times! Ran out of light today, I'll get back at it tomorrow. Check the wiring in the passenger tail light is first on the list for tomorrow evening.

Have you plugged it into a different vehicle to see if its the trailer or jeep?

That's what I would do first

I have not....the other 4 vehicles here don't even have a hitch! :D I'm thinking it's the Jeep, I thought I had ruled that out but I guess not.

JR, I will do that.
