I am hoping she gets back. Talk to her yesterday and had a few more questions and havent heard back. I would even consider paying full price. I have been trying to get another XJ forever and in the past month I have seriously inquired about 5 or so near me and no one gets back to me and the postings are still up on CL. If this falls through, the search will still be on. A buddy might be selling his 1995. Has higher miles and more rust than I was planning. But hes owned it for awhile and it seems to have been real good to him. Wanted stock, but his is slightly modded.

Of course, I'm probably your biggest advocate to keeping that thing.Harrison had his 2nd birthday today. We had a nice, little family gathering for it. He got loads of presents. Meganne has his bedroom nearly finished, finished enough to have him in it tonight. Original plan was to have him in his room, start potty training, turn his crib into the day-bed style and take away his pacifier. We didn't take away the pacifier... It his only vice now and he only uses it to go to sleep.

IllianaXJ, that sounds like early vs late ZJ driveshaft confusions.
Early ZJs (93-95? 95.0? 95.5? I forget, check dana/spicer catalog J321-CV for specifics) with a V8/auto drivetrain have a longer front driveshaft (commonly used when doing an SYE on a 5spd XJ) and a shorter rear driveshaft.
Late ZJs (95.5? 96?) with a V8/auto drivetrain have a shorter front driveshaft (only 0.6" or so longer than an XJ 5spd front driveshaft - I'm running one as a front shaft with a 5spd right now!) and a longer rear driveshaft.
I bet your issues stem from that, either you didn't pay attention to the year of donor/recipient you needed, or the person who wrote the posts you used as source info didn't pay attention.
I found this out because me and a friend went to the local yard to get a shaft for another friend's 5 speed XJ SYE, didn't know there was a difference, got a late ZJ V8 front shaft. Got back to the shop to put it in, it came up WAY short. On a hunch I checked it against my front shaft (ton of play in the slip joint) and it was close enough that I installed it. The next shaft we got for the 5 speed SYE swap on the other guy's jeep was from a 93-95 or so and fit perfectly.

Mine is a 96, build date 1-96, V8/auto/249. The donor was a 98, 4.0/auto/242.
Can't complain too much I suppose, all parts were free. I had read on a couple forums that 96-98 was all bolt in, guess not. I need a 32" front shaft, the donor was 34". I will probably have an inch or so cut out of the rear shaft.

Took about 5 hours to do the mids by myself. My jeep is really bent. Also had to drop the whole front suspension. Undercoat is a bitch.
I did fronts last summer. That's breeze. Pound a door stop between the stiffener and the bumpstop tower and go to town.

Anyone watch this show Sullivan and son. Im sitting here watching taking apart oreos to make one huge one and I shit you not the second I shoved the Franken oreo made of the frosting from four double stuffed oreos in my face the Korean mom makes a joke about Americans siting on the couch eating double stuffed oreos and watching honey bo bo.

Last 6 days have been a blurr... Started last Wednesday at my aunt's memorial in Minnetonka Beach, which lead to a family 'reunion' at my uncles. My dad is the youngest at age 68 so it was rather emotional as it will probably not happen again...
This was followed with a trip back home to La Crosse where I spent Thursday tearing a buddies' 2.0L out of a Corsica down to the block and putting all new seals in. Friday I drove to Cedar Falls Iowa and moved the wife's grandparents from a retirement home into an assisted living home. Finished up moving them Saturday morning just in time to drive back to La Crosse for my god-son/nephews birthday.
Sunday morning we picked up the trailer a.k.a the Titanic and headed to Eau Claire. Picked up stuff Phil wanted taken from Max-Bilt and headed to Cadott. Picked up Bec's CJ5 and dropped it off in New Richmond and then made it back home to Maplewood.
This morning I loaded up the trailer with the rest of Bec's jeep from the school and took it over to New Richmond. Came back and patched the hole in the pass. side floor board in the Jeep. Bed lined Jeep floors. Typing this. Going to Bed.

She's getting so big!! I put Harrison in the driver's seat the other day and showed him how to honk the horn. He was no where near as interested as I had hoped. I feared that he wouldn't lay off. He just wanted to get down. Strange, he likes everything else that makes noiseThat they do! Hard to believe he's 2 already.

He's been doing very well in his own room tonight. Hasn't made a peep, has stayed in the bed despite having free access to his toys and went right to sleep. Fingers crossed this becomes SOP.

There are two very distinct types of people looking for parts. There are the guys like most of us here who think nothing of sweating our balls off for half a day to save $25 on an axle and then there are the ones who have a stock jeep, no tools and limited mechanical experience who was told by the dealer it will cost $1200 to fix their blown up rear end. The second type are very very happy to find guys like me who has one in a clean garage with air tools and is totally willing to help them pull it for that price.
Yeah it's a little work on my part but these are the type I try to sell to. A Naxja guy thinks I'm ripping them off but someone who's only other option is a dealer fix, I'm saving them a small fortune.
