Important

Wow... Thats soo much easier than the wp on the 95 Taurus I did yesterday... Then again I had to deal with a seized tensioner that was FACTORY X_X

Everytime I did one of those intakes, I always used extra RTV in the areas that were prone to leaking...

Remove the bolts in the WP pulley, remove the belt. This is what you will see:

4 bolts left, WP comes out. Reverse the process (with proper gasket of course) and refill with coolant. Make sure you bleed all of the air out of the system with the bleeder screw on the thermostat housing; it can be a PITA to get it all out.

Where is the belt tensioner? I may have owned a vehicle with this engine, but my Jeep is the first vehicle I am actually working on most of the time.

Is this the bleeder?

Do I just keep it open until no more air comes out? Like I said, I never messed with this engine before since the shoe horned things everwhere no it.

tensioner will be towards the back, it should have a square hole in the arm that a 3/8 or 1/2 drive ratchet/breaker bar will fit into so you can leverage it out of the way and release the belt.

That second picture appears to be the bleeder. Start motor, open bleeder, close when a steady stream of coolant comes out. Might have to repeat a few times with the heat/cool cycles.

Yep, except the tensioner won't have a square hole, you'll have to use a 15mm box end wrench on the bolt in the middle to move it. Also, open the bleeder while you're adding coolant, it will push a lot of air out as you fill.

In other news, I brought the neighborhood property values down a bit today:

I think the Chevy itself brings the property values down...

we burnt off a few crop fields last night and called in the fire to the local sheriffs dept (protocol for buring in our county)....apparently the person taking the call "forgot" to notify the RFD and here they all came in their glory...lights a going, sirens blowing etc...when they got to the field we told them it was a controlled burn and that we had called it in. One volunteer told us we owed a minimum of $500 for them being called out...I showed them my call log on my phone and told them to take it up w/ the Sheriffs dept. I also mentioned I paid my fire dues and it would not cost me sh*t for their services.

Tyler, you've gotta be kidding. If a VFD got up in my face like that....nothing would happen then, but there would be war. Then again, the VFD back home is a bunch of fire bugs, they do like to play with their toys. Also helps that my brother was on their board for several years.

from last nights episode....tonights fire should light the sky for miles! :flame:

That's something else we never did back home, burning off fields like that. The ground is sandy enough that it needs all the help it can get, it all gets turned under.

should have bought a pick up camper. all the cool kids have one I'm told. :D

:D

Idiots. Around here they do the opposite, notify their buddy on the local VFD who in turn doesn't notify dispatch. When we get a call on a field fire, the cavalry is sent. I'd have been pissed about the blue light commando asking you for $500; not his decision. Even if it was merited (which it wasn't) it would be up to the chief of that township.

we typically dont, but there was so much weed pressure last year and we were not able to get everything sprayed due to flooding, so it was a weedy grassy mess. Now it is dry we will torch it and get the ground cover off so we can work the ground yet this spring. We typically try to stay with no-till operations, but the past few years has not lent itself to that so much. I would be a liar if I did not say that I enjoy working the ground....but it truely is hard on the soil, the microbes, the soil profile and lastly my pocketbook for the fuel costs. But man I love firing up the ol' JD8440 and letting the black clouds fill the sky!! :farmer:

My 4840 should be out of the shop next week w/ a complete inframe OH and a new turbo...should last another 30 years! Hell, I may even give the ol' girl some love and a new coat of paint :D
