Important

Aww thanks Eric sorry its been crazy busy around here, Rob and I were talking about coming up to visit before we move in June just trying to find a free weekend since soccer has started up. I am always game for some hometown pizza and good company. I can't leave KY without seeing my Maggie ;)

On the house the bonus is that it has a inground pool woohoo

You guys go ahead and pick a day even if it's a month or two out and we'll try to work around it. And Maggie is more rotten than ever. I'm sure she'll be glad to see you. The boys are going to love that pool!

Thank you GM for reminding me why Jeep is better. Took my moms van in to get the oil changed and possibly replace a power steering line. The shop did the oil change and told me some bad news. Not only is the high pressure power steering hose bad (which I expected), but also the intake manifold gasket is bad and the water pump is leaking. Water pump is bad, but not too bad. Intake manifold gasket is only leaking out and not in yet, so it isn't bad. The good is that we got the van for 1200 under private party and 2500 under retail so even if the repairs costs 1000, it is still good value for what we will have in it.

I have helped replaced the water pump on my XJ and it isn't a big problem on the Xj as it is on the 60°v6 engines (3400) to get to it to even think about doing it myself. In general the Jeep is much easier to work on then the GM's I have had.

Why do sooooo many of you have my cell phone number? And why do you text me when I am feeling blue (some of you have been nice though)?

I am now the biggest Princton fan on the planet.

I have always been a fan of moreHEAD.....

Must be a Venture/Silhouette/Montana. Water pumps are a 20 minute job, easier than a 350 Chevy. Intake gaskets are common, make sure the shop uses the good steel PermaDry gasket set. They will not leak again unlike the cheaper plastic gaskets that will fail just like factory.

Typical 3400 intake job in a van at our shop runs ~$450-500ish.

2000 Montana with 100k. Can you provide some specifics on the water pump? It seems you ahve to remove half the crap in the engine to get to it if it is on the right hand side.

In other news, I brought the neighborhood property values down a bit today:

It is Vincennes, the University will buy it at some point anyway.

Remove the bolts in the WP pulley, remove the belt. This is what you will see:

4 bolts left, WP comes out. Reverse the process (with proper gasket of course) and refill with coolant. Make sure you bleed all of the air out of the system with the bleeder screw on the thermostat housing; it can be a PITA to get it all out.
