Not sure I'd bet my life on it. According to my searching, a cig burns at about 750degF (outside of burning section, the center gets to 1000, gets even hotter when you draw on it)... autoignition temperature of gasoline is 495degF.

Gasoline as a fluid in that condition will not ignite... it was trick for the audience. He removed one leg of the fire triangle...

Hold that same cigarette a half an inch above the liquid and see what happens...

I don't know if a cigarette will ignite just funmes in the proper concentraion.

This sounds like somehtng that needs to be proven/disproven first week of march.

I've dipped my finger in gas and used it to light charcoal grilles before. As long as I keep it off the back of my finger, it works great and results in no burns.

So after being out of the auto industry for the last 5 years I forgot how much I enjoyed it. First week down and it's amazing how fast the forgotten stuff comes back.
