Once I get out of University housing at end of semester, I've been thinking about picking up a handgun... Just dunno what I'd get...

Nate is spot on here. A Glock didn't feel right in my hand at all, The XD is very comfortable in my hand.

x2 on the previous two posts. I like the XD partly because its Not a Glock. And the grip angle is similar to that of a 1911. The XDm's have interchangeable backstraps. Find a dealer or friend that has a few test guns to try out.

When I stop dumping money into the house so much I need to get back into shooting... only tried a couple guns so far. So far the redhawk in 44mag is what I'm best with, I absolutely suck with a sig p226 in 9mm and the mp5k I tried at the range. Too bad, because if I had a mazillion bucks to drop on guns I'd get an MP5K in a heartbeat, they're a lot of fun.

I love the XD. It will be the next gun I purchase. I've got one buddy that has the sub compact 9 and it's nice. The other buddy has the .40 cal version and it's even sweeter in my book.

I haven't got to shoot either one yet but one day. I still think I would like the 40 cal. I haven't found a handgun yet that fits my hands like the 40 cal model.

My buddy has the 45 and I have the standard nine. They feel identical in my hand and the 45 doesn't kick much harder than my 9. I'd say just get the 45!
