pretty much its the stock bumper brackets with a pipe welded to it. its just the 8 bolts holding it to the unibody

Mac, there is some limited protection on the WiFi hotspot, but it's pretty easily broken, it's only WEP.

If it's just the stock bolts and no frame tie in, I dont think it will pass.

disco, I would say no...i wouldn't trust just those 8 bolts to the crossmember...at the very least the nut certs should be on the frame to spread the load out...IMO, i also dont have the final say...

jeff, wep keys don't seem easily hacked to me... :) but i'm not a computer nerd...

ok. thats what i was thinking, just wanted to make sure.

luckily my roomates uncle lives down the road and is a welder, and he has plenty of scrap.

thanks guys

Steve, the comments are correct about the bumper. If your rear bumber is to be considered as your recovery point it needs to at a minimum be tied in to the unibody. The factory bumper brackes are just light weight stamped steel and are weak, when coupled with only 8 bolts that are in the factory locations it is a pretty weak set up. I would say to beef up the mounts and then add some onto it so that it can be tied into the unibody like how a receiver hitch does and you would be fine then. Thank you for posting up and asking the qurstion instead of just showing up or trying to argue it. I appreciate it, as do all the tech inspectors.

I did that whole married thing for 18 yrs. that ain't happening again.

just use a decoy ring is what I am saying..like mine is..I am not really married to Camille (nor do I ever want to be, she is a rip :D )

Mac, canned programs are pretty widely available to crack WEP encryption.

Actually, considering where you're going..... not turning into a mobile hotspot may be a good idea. If you have to hook up a USB tether, nobody else is gonna leech your connection.

This is wise advice Mac, don't do it wireless. I think as long as you aren't downloading songs and the like your data usage is not going to cause any issues. I probably would hold off on uploading tons of photos. just a few.
Also, check with Verizon that it truly is unlimited, they say that, but in my experience it's unlimited, but you pay after 5GB.

get's the nut strips and use those to build from to save time. Dealership, or I think JCR makes a sturdier version.

I bought one kinda like that, but the roof is getting torn off and redone (boy are my arms sore) and it is getting 100% gutted. Then I'm gonna live in it.

I have found some really... "unique" repairs in this place.

I hate it when you run out of welding gas then have to switch to flux core, because there is no where open to get gas. Then it gets even better when you run out of flux core.......
yeah I hate that... I keep a large supply of wire on hand to avoid it.

wouldn't trust those bolts with anything, after having rebuilt that area on my 96. The weldnuts on the other side are like 1/2" from the frame rail and are effectively only held up by 2 sheets of 16ga steel.

Left the casino up $2400 last night.
