Sounds like you should invest in a row of Really Big Rocks.

People are a little more careful if they see that, and if they aren't... :dunno:

Me, I like this idea. Besides, then you have something to play on in the front yard.

They giving you coffee and donuts? Statistics show its better to fire someone on a Friday. Less chance of an incident.

my uncle told me about the time his company (this was in the late 90s, tech bubble) started doing mass layoffs... the remaining employees quickly realized they were always firing people on fridays, and started using all their remaining vacation time on fridays. A few of them, my uncle included, made it a couple of extra months simply because they weren't around to be fired till they ran out of vacation time.

That may be..... but there's a whole lot of circumstances where you absolutely have to get that ex-employee off premises *NOW*.

Somebody tried to pull that on me when I worked for U.S.Robotics. He was laid off as soon as he set foot in the building. Then again, if he hadn't been laid off, I was about to terminate him for cause.

We had an off duty employee get in a fight with an on duty employee. We had 6 squad cars outside the bar all night and morning. (Could have been because there were 4 seperate fights in the bar in one night :confused1)

He was let go about three weeks ago and there hadn't been an issue. He showed up Wednesday and there was enough of an issue that they decided they needed security...

Burp...they just ordered in Casa's for Lunch...and then I helped judge the Christmas decorations for their competition between cubicles...

We just "fixed" the glitch.

Did you see that IT lady earlier in the week that locked the whole county out of their system?

note to employers, when you fire a senior IT person, it's probably a good idea to go ahead and change all of those remote access passwords before they compromise your system and lock you out of the corporate firewall.

Unfortunately, that's not an isolated case. It happens fairly regularly, and most of them go unreported.

Actually, that should be for any IT staff, not just senior, and doubly so for anybody with any level of administrative responsibility. Not only do you disable their accounts, you also make sure to terminate any current open connections. Yes, that's happened. A senior IT staff was terminated, and all of his accounts were terminated. He still had an open VPN connection to his home, and that gave him enough access to cause trouble.

Just got an update on my brother. He had his esophogus scoped and they said that a mix of a bad food allergery, and acid reflux are what is making things uncomfortable for him. They took a biopsy of teh "spot" in his throat and will have results of that next week. Signs fiorm the scoping are not looking like it is a "bad" esophogus cancer as originally thight, but still waiting results of todays biopsy. Please continue to keep him and his family in your thoughts.
