Although this non-event was intended to be only an afternoon/evening meet & greet, the pre M&G trail ride seems to have taken on a life of its own. It's beginning to appear that there will be 50 or more vehicles. That raises some concerns.
As most of you know, there is virtually no legal wheeling available in Connecticut, and very little in Rhode Island. We cannot afford to lose access to this location because of complaints, regardless of whether or not the complaints are justified or pure BS.
Once onto the trail there will be no problem. However, the entrance is adjacent to a very busy intersection at a very busy shopping center on a very busy state highway. There is NO WAY 50 Jeeps can get into the trail without causing a major traffic tie-up and attracting a lot of attention we don't want. Therefore:
Although Ryan is planning to leave the Stop & Shop meeting place at 10:00, if there is one or more groups of about 10 vehicles who are ready to roll before than and who know the way, they should leave before the main group.
The trail entrance is a 15-minute highway drive from the Stop & Shop, so airing down at S&S is not a good option. Once at the trail, Ryan will take the group into the shopping center. Find a remote corner of the lot where you're away from most of the traffic and air down there. From there, you can split up into stock and modified groups, preferably not more than 10 vehicles to a group, and head out to the trail in small groups with 10 to 15 minutes between groups.
This "non-event" was begun by
members but is not a
event. We can't enforce
rules, but to avoid giving anyone any excuse to restrict access to this trail, I urgently implore everyone to PLEASE behave. Don't drive crazy, especially out on the roads leading to the trail. No alcohol or banned chemicals before or during the run. DON'T LOSE THIS TRAIL.
Thanks.
