Ignition and Spark Tables...

Anybody have them? I am looking to have everything I need ready to go by the time I actually have the jeep in front of me. To the point of having already inputted a lot of values for fuel and timing into the computer. The stock ones will be fine if you have them, insights as to what you would change in tuning a stroker would be even better. I think I can do them with math and some brainwork, but it is so much easier to borrow the data from someone else.

The only other thing I am really trying to decide between is if I want to use the Ford EDIS system or go with MSD. I would have usually chosen MSD with no hesitation, but I have been hearing a lot of reliability concerns lately. Megasquirt will drive them both equally well.

I want to have all of this planned so I can talk to the tech guru and doublecheck, then order and have all the stuff shipped.

I know there was a post here on OBD-II scanners, where some people had got some ignition timing readings at various states, such as idle, cruise, WOT. I don't think you will find anything better than that.

I've looked at the timing at idle and reving while in neutral with a scanner before, but didn't record them. I don't think they are the same under a load(haven't driven and recorded them yet--still waiting for a spare $450 to be able to do that). I also have a stage 2 Jet chip that alters the timing as well(does the scanner reflect that or is that post data?).

I am actually gonna have to fill in the entire table. It is a 12x12 matrix with rpm on one axis and map pressure on the other. The individual cells represent a percentage of the stoich mix used at each intersection. 100 being for full stoich, 150 being rich, and 50 being lean.

timing will actually be easy, set it advance, back it off till it starts detoating then bup it forward a hair. I think I can pretty much fudge the numbers for dwell and duration. and Since I plan on using the MSD box and a trigger wheel, ignition should be fairly easy.

I just want to get it roughed in and idling correctly, after that I am gonna have it tuned for real on a dyno by a pro. Hopefully I can watch what he is doing and come up with some good numbers for the next guy to try this.

I do have the stock fuel maps and 26# fuel maps that split second included with the psc1-002 that have the rpm vs map axis. When I get back from Penn I can email you the R4 software and the maps(by Wed).

sweet, it doesn't need to be super quick, but those sound like exactly what I need. It sounds like those should be very close with only a little adjustment needed.

I'd appreciate copies as well - please send them to my NAXJA e-mail addy. No rush.

Well believe it or not my sis has my bro's asus eee here in Penn and it has the R4 and maps on it. My issue is that I can't seem to find the attachment tab in Naxja's message system to send it to yall. edit: I see the email tab up there, but my username and password doesn't work--guess you have to set it up separately. I'll use my yahoo account.

Just use your email client, and attach it as a file to an email message (for me, it would be 5-90 AT naxja DOT org. Wolfpack will have to give you the addy he wants you to use himself, since I don't know what it is.)

If it's an uncommon file format, please let us know beforehand - so we can see if we can find something to read it (.xls, .doc, .pdf - all of those are common, as is .txt. Anything else we may have to dig.)

I do not believe the PM system supports attachments. At least, I've never tried to attach anything to a PM...

I run linux, document reader will read damn near anything. I think he mentioned sending the reader program as well

Yeah. I gotta get a Linux box going one of these days myself, just haven't had the scratch to do so (enough "incidental expenses" to just about kill me outright...)

Fortunately, I've got MSOffice 2K and OpenOffice - which should cover anything that isn't proprietary.

It was able to be sent to wolf but gave me an error for 5-90. I'll try again instead of hitting the back button and switching addresses. Ok it should be there for both of you.

I loved it and then let my bro install suse(big brother to ubuntu) and a day or two after he returned to The Gulf suse crashed. I've tried reinstalling it and errors come up so I might have a harddrive issue. I still can run the startup disks(ubuntu and suse), but it gets to be a pain to go through the process everytime it starts up, not to mention not being able to access the fsms and pdfs I had on it.

i can do pdf's just fine. as far as upgrading, i am happy with ubuntu. my laptop runs on it, and It had not been shut down in about 2 weeks. I have a media machine with a lot of dvd's ripped onto it that runs kubuntu
