I think I may be ruining my XJ

I have made the plunge and ordered a set of springs from Deaver. My set-up that I am replacing’ front ACOS set to 1.25 lift, RE 5.5 springs 11” Fox reservoirs with adjustable compression, JKS upper mounts and JKS Bar Pin Eliminators on the bottom, Currie Anti-Rock.
The rear Has RE 5.5 springs, ½ block, Re Boomerang shackles H.D. shackle relocation kit set at 45*, 11” Fox reservoirs with adjustable compression. JKS Bar Pin Eliminators top, custom lower mounts.
My XJ is used for DD; Trail mostly rocks, hauling lots of camping gear with 35’s.
The changes, front T&J upper shock mounts, relocated lower mounts. Deaver 5.5” Jeepspeed springs, limit straps
I gained an inch of height, 9" of total travel, limited to prevent the shock from topping out and to keep the spring from unloading.
Deaver is making a rear set of spring with 6.5 to 7” of lift with the same spring rate as their 4” spring.
Here is where I am worried, the XJ rides super smooth on the road and the rocks, has a ton of articulation. It works very well but the spring are shot, I have lost 2” of ride height and my steering move about 15* every trip.
The new Deaver’s have a higher spring rate and I am thinking the ride may be rougher and I will lose articulation. Has anyone used Deavers for a trail rig? How well will they flex?

most guys i know that run the Deavers are go fast guys and they love them......

wow
you have a nice setup.
id stop complaining. it sounds good to me.
if youre eating leaves are you bumpstopped in addition to limit straps?

Yes the front and rear is bump stopped. When I first set it up I had 4” up travel in the rear and the front had 5”, I have lost 2” since then front and rear. We pack a lot of gear or my wife does, we don’t go camping we move our house.
IF you are running RE spring you will find they sag fast. The rear leaf where gull winged the day I installed them. I must admit I am asking a lot of the springs.
I’m not really complaining, just thinking I will lose the nice ride and flex.

i know youre not complaining im just sayin you have a nice setup thats all. youre putting alot of weight and gear intot hat xj. id say throw some leaves in your current packs.

That sucks, 2 inces is huge!

I have had the same 4.5 RE coils for well over 5 years with out much lost at all. I know some people that switch over to the SkyJacker coils for a stiffer suspension, but that might make your road driving worse. I have not heard much on the Deavers.

With the adjustable shocks I would think you will be ok. As you know just a couple clicks on those shocks makes a huge difference in ride. I bet if you turned them down a bit with the stiff springs it would work pretty good.

I have deaver leafs in the rear of mine and couldn't be happier on road and off road! As far as sagging deavers I have only had them on my jeep for about a month but under heavy loads they tend to sag a bit. I've heard mixed reviews on the deaver leafs some people swear by them and others(mostly crawlers)hate them calling them super sagers... I went from a rustys 4.5" leaf to the deaver leaf, lost like 2" of lift in the back but I could care less cause the ride is incredible compared to rustys. It seems like the faster you go the smoother it is. As for the deaver coils they seem a little too soft up front but compared to the RE coils i had on before ride %100 better, Post up in the socal section it seems like everyone is building jeepspeeds/go fast rigs lately. I bought my deavers off the forums used so I'm not sure what the difference is between my used ones and new off the shelf ones as far as where it settles. Another thing to look out for on the deavers when you talk to whoever when ordering a custom pack this happened to paulairhart when he bought his from the deaver shop, the guy told him it was a custom pack but it turns out to be the regular G9 pack, we found this out by looking at both our leafs and getting the # off the spring and his and mine are the same G9 #. Not bashing deaver but that is a kinda cold thing to do when your dropping close to a $G on leafs. My jeep rides like a boat with the deavers you should be pleased with the product non the less!
