MAPP should work great... I use propane with frequent success and MAPP burns hotter.

x2 on the map gas, or.... just drill that bolt out. start on the head and it should shear off, then punch the rest of it out. worked for me....

I didn't get a chance to work on it this weekend. My brother came up from NC so that was this weekend.
I'll get it handled tonight. I think I'm gonna heat it up and try to beat it out. if that doesn't work I'm going to grind the head off and pull it throuh the other side, if that doesn't work, it's on to the drill.

OK, so the JKS discos are on. I ended up cutting the bolt head off and pulling the bolt through with my breaker bar. That was a great tip Mambeu, I'll be passing that one on. Much easier than any other methods I had read.
I also pulled the old bearings off the 97, so it's ready for new bearings and brakes.
I need to get the remnants of the UCA off, but that things on there. It's soaking in PB blaster now. I may just cut that off too.

Are you c-clip or not?
If you're c-clip they won't work, if you're not then a set is yours.
I gave the 97 unit bearings to my neighbor for his TJ since he's helping me out. he's machining some stuff and honing out the bearings so we can set up the detroit.

Axle will be setup tomorrow night, it's all been arranged.

Axles go under the truck this weekend. Some help from my brother and dad.
Here's my timeline.
Tonight: Axle perches and gear setup
Tomorrow: Complete new rear brakes. Only part I need to get is the rubber hose, and I'm trying to find an extended one. Looking at the 96 Dak hose, but I can't find anyone with it in stock to compare with mine. Only thing that will need to be pulled from my rear axle is the brake drums.
Friday: put the MJ up on jackstands after work. Pull wheels, brake drums and front rotors and wheel bearings. Transfer brake parts and wheel bearings over to new axles.
Saturday morning: Start pulling axles, Insert AAL and new coils
Sunday: Put new axles in.
Memorial day: Align the front a la GoJeep, go play (hopefully)
Things that are already done: Axles are painted, JKS discos installed on front axle, old unit bearings off 97 axle.
Things I need to get yet: Strap kit for U joints. New U bolts for rear axle, new hard lines for rear axle, I've got all the rest of the brake components, and they're assembled on the backing plate already.

I used a Dakota rear brake hose on mine.

I also used Chevy truck hoses in the front.

Hard lines are easy, buy a double flaring tool, tube bender and lengths of line, make your own.

I'll pick one up tonight along with tube to make new hard lines.
