Hunters/archers

I have a picture of my grandpa standing at a picknic table trying to grab more food then a bear. He was on a family vacation with his 6 kids and wasn't giving up anything. We have a ton of bears, but its been u seasonably cold so I didn't expect to see one. My grandma has to bring her bird feeders inside or they break them to get at the food..

tagged out in Missouri this season

Got two big ole' three year old gobblers.

one in the middle of a lightening storm and drenching rain.....

****in Beezil...

Went up north to scout some land today. Lotta good trails. There's a large hay field on the north east corner of the land that is backed up to a pine grove. There are quite a few tracks leading in/out of the pines with some old scrapes. We've got a game camera set up on a split in the trail to try and catch some traffic.

The south end of the property is fairly wooded. It gets a bit dense in areas but the trails are very prominent. We put a camera right off of a huge convergence of 3 trails.

The woods should be good for shotgun and bow. The field area would be great for rifle.

As we were coming out of the field to go towards the woods to put up the second cam, we spotted 2 does on the edge of the field. Good sign. I'm pretty excited to take some time next month to actually try and pattern them.

early goose starts here in sept. havent found a lot of spots yet, but one of them is showing some promise...

new states are tough, but also can force you to get out of a rut. we shall see

Where about do you hunt? Extra antlerless tags went on sale saturday.. I set a coworker up with my camera for one of his bear baits, he is hunting less then a 1/4 mile in from superior and is pumped up. Had over 2, 000 pictures in 2 weeks :)

It's just outside of Wausaukee. The place I hunted last year is near Goodman. I'll likely be up there again this year. But I like the looks of this new place.

Camille got otheran deer with the Tacoma this evening....shoved the bumper and grill back just far enough to get into the radiator and condensor....so deer season is in full force around here a bit earlier than usual :D I will be getting in contact with the MDC and getting nuscience tags/permits shortly....when there are multiple herds on every farm we have, I think there is a slight over population.

Cheese "brown n down" Man

I'd be glad to come help cull the herd! :D

Lets plan a date and do this. It is stupid how many deer we have. If I can get the bow hunters out of the cabin in time for gun season, I will see what we can get planned. I have a group that comes in from Utah and they like to do a lot of "walk up" hunting and the bigger the party the bigger the harvest. They are meat hunters, not in it for the sport..and it is really not sporting since the deer dont carry firearms...and since they dont have fingers they could not pull the trigger regardless :D

I use a older Hoyt MT Sport but I am moving into a Barrnett quad 400 crossbow. My 12 yr old son shoots the crossbow too. My 14 yr old daughter shoots a Matthews Menace. We hunt in the back yard (7 acres) which is backed by state forest. We hunt for food mostly but we are always looking for the big rack (have not seen that yet).

Since you would have to drive right past me, I would be down to carpool ;)
Halfzies on gas? To be honest, I think I would rather fly. Haha! Fly into Des Moines and have Tyler pick me up. All Outfitter style.

Wow, I really didn't think you'd be so eager to respond with such a positive answer. How much does an out of state license cost in MO?

You guys want to take out a noob? i never hunted anything, dad or uncles on his side never hunted, moms side did some hunting but pops is too old to show us the ropes now. hunting is something i always regret not knowing how to do.

I am going out tonight to put my cams out and check out my stands.

I have hunted cheap ass $30 tree stands for years and am finally buying a nice comfortable one this year. Should be able to help me stay still.

k "ADH what a bird!!!!" man

What kind of firearms are allowed down there?

Flying with guns sucks. And shipping meat and or stuff adds up.

I would be very happy to take someone new out hunting. I am always game to introduce someone to the sport. Even if I'm not a big time hunter, I'd be happy to spend 10mins and teach you everything I know. :D

Truth. Know anyone with a minivan to put like 4 guys and gear in? Splitting gas 4 ways would be awesome! We'd only need one more.

Tyler, sounds like you've got a lot of interest. Would 4 guys be too many?

Being that I was primarily kidding about this whole thing to start with, I wasn't exactly thinking this would roll so easily. Hopefully the Cabela's job pans out quickly and I can save some cash to head out there. If this happens.
