How's everyone mounting their Baja II shifter?

Initially, I was thinking of moving the stock transmission shifter back a few inches and then mounting Rory's Baja II shifter directly to the left. However, once I got it and started experimenting with various locations, it seems to feel and fit nicely directly behind.

This is how I currently have mine mounted, but there's a little window of time now to change it. Is this a functional and comfortable mounting position? Anyone else have it mounted differently?

The closer to your right hand on the steering wheel, the better.

That makes good sense, actually. Rory emailed me some you tube links of team petty cash on board videos and after watching several of their racing videos, I'd have to give them an A+ for the best functional shifter location. They have a very impressive Jeep, too :)

The GPS unit is currently going in that location. However, I'll check if there will be room for the shifter just to the left of the GPS :)

Thanks for the good suggestion!

Drivers don't need a GPS! That goes in front of the right seat.

Actually...
I raced a stock full last year at the Mil and it had a 10" for the co-dog and a 7"
for the driver.
I effing loved it. I had mine zoomed in to .4 so I could see the turn just before we got to it and he had his at the standard .8 so he could call out the upcoming turn.

I dug it because it eliminated the anxiety of just how far out the turn or hazard was that the co dog called out.
I "now" highly recomend one for both passengers.
