How to handle/view possible problems

I am just trying to think ahead and consider how to view the response from people on the threads in the Intermountain Chapter. I understand that you do have rights to points of view but sometimes it just seems to totally be antagonistic and really does not belong here. I think Dan is out of line here and could have brought his point out in a manner a little more appropriate to what I view a response to another human should be. Please let me know what the Past/Present and new BOD thinks about this and if I should be a little more open or am correct in my thoughts on this subject.

luv2offroad, if you're calling me cranky because I pointed out this guy's FAWKING stupidity, and you condone his stupidity, you're a idiot too.

My 2 cents -- TRNDRVR has always been antagonistic and gets worse if you continue to respond to him. Ignore him and he doesn't respond. The problem is this is a public forum and therefore, he has a right to express his opinions. (I've learned to ignore his comments in particular.) Overall, the comments posted on the NAXJA forums are usually pretty nice compared to other websites I've been to.

Ignore him and the members will get upset that you're allowing him to be an ass. Do something and he will cry "unfair" so loud the national membership will hear. Frankly, I'd like to see him perma-banned, but I don't think his actions would justify that.

Food for thought. The Sierra chapter had a member a few years ago that was nothing but problems.

On a vote from that chapter's BOD they decided to not let him post in that chapters forums anymore.

All it takes is one of the admins to flip a switch.

The ball is in your court now but if I had been the Pres when he started all this crap, he would have been long gone and I would have never looked back.

It's a tough call because in times past he has done a lot for this chapter too. I just don't know if it is enough to make up for his total ass-hattery.

Also remember that as the chapter BOD members you will have full access to moderator functions. Sometimes all it takes is a little delete but you need to act on it as soon as it happens...not two weeks after it was posted.

Have fun guys....glad its you and not me who has to deal with this crap now.

Israel, do not worry about the national BOD. They hate him just as much. Remember he was a much bigger PITA to them than he has been to the IC.

He has had his warnings. Josh has been very forward with him and I think if it starts to get out of hand like last time then we need to flip the switch. Just have to make sure that it is justified when we do so. Hard to penalize someone for something that they did in the past. If a cop gives you a warning then you will get a ticket next time. But not a ticket for both instances. The decisions need to be made at the time of the foul. Also I think that it is important to keep the BOD out of the heart of the battle. Lead by example and think about your responses before you post. If nessesary post here first to get it off your chest and then give a response. Just my .02

I was going to ask earlier if anyone had asked the Natl BOD what they would recommend for this type of situation. I understand not wanting to offend the entire Natl BOD but there is no reason why the local people should have to deal with the constant harrassment of one individual and I haven't seen to much over-the-top harrassment by anyone else.

So now my question is, if we decide to block him from access to our forum, what is to stop him from posting nasty comments about us in other forums and what is to stop him from creating another user name and coming back to harrass??

There isn't really anything to stop him from posting in other forums but if he does and it doesn't go over well, he can be banned from there as well.

He has had several time outs...to a lot of the BOD he skates on pretty thin ice.

In the Moderator's forum, you'll find an area called "Possible AE posts". Anytime someone with a different username posts from an IP address (computer) that another username has logged in from, it automatically triggers an AE post. I believe posting from another username, especially if it's to get around a previous corrective action, would be cause for at least a temporary ban.
