I should be heading out there on sunday to test out my new steering. Its been a while since Ive wheeled HH.

Would anybody like to meet up there? Wheeling is much more fun with fellow NAXJA'ers.

Really? Nobody?

I will be up there saturday and sunday, and will be riding the quads on monday.

I might be up for Sunday the 15th. Gotta rebuild the joints on my trackbar first. Are you camping?

Yessir, camping at the lower campgrounds with all the trees and (dry) creek.

Dude I'd totally go but I just wheeled last weekend and now Im doing a whole new build on my Jeep. I'd be down to go again in a few weeks. Camping sounds fun and we have had some sweet weather lately!

I'm planning on going on the 15th, my brother is likely coming as well. Probably be there around 10:30-10:45.

i got one axle shaft apart so far. yup, the u-joint was destroyed.
josh are we meeting at the usual place?
what time?

Looks like we will be camping in the motorcycle area. I will plan on meeting you guys in the play area at 9:30ish. Cb channel 16.

Feel free to bring some food as we can barbecue it back at camp. You guys can stick around for a camp fire as well if you want.

We probably wont be at Hollister until around 1045 or so. We'll be at the obstacle course with the mud pit.

ok, got the other u-joint replaced. it was trashed also, but not as bas as the first.
now i need to figure out why my arb compressor is tits up.

alright, ill plan on meeting there at 10:30(ISH) then. CB channel 16. See you guys there!

***** If you guys could call for me on the CB when you're paying to get in, that'd be great.

Fun run today. Tim, Nate, and I met up with Kevin and his dad Mike to run some trails.

Warmed up on the obstacle course:

So we're slowly making our way to the exit, hitting all the obstacles on the way out, and then it happened. My brother busted a front u-joint...busted the cross on the drivers side joint. Its not often that you hear someone say "Oh thank God Tim is here"...but today its a good thing he was:

When we pulled off the tire, we found 2 of the 3 bolts that hold on the unit bearing were chewed up by the ujoint. Not sure if the bolts were loose before or after being chewed up.

All put back together. Yes, there is a stub shaft in there. Tim machined the ears off the spare outer previously. Its a really nice setup.

Meanwhile, why Tim and Nate were stuffing a stub shaft into the axle so we could drive home - Kevin ran up Truck Hill in reverse and made it all the way to the top. It was quite a sight to see - he had a pretty good crowd at the bottom wondering what the hell he was doing:

Fun day. Let's do it again. A couple more pics available here: http://s196.photobucket.com/albums/aa116/wickedtl/Hollister Jan 2012/?start=all

Thats exactly why I carry several extra hub bolts. Its one of those things, takes such a small break to completely ruin a trip.

I suggest doing it! And remember that the Renix era axles had a different bolt (I think twelve point 13mm vs a 1/2''?) so plan accordingly.

Looks like you guys had fun. Odd seeing Hollister so dry in January.
