With the creek trail at Frank Raines closed, I think it would be best to change the venue of this run to Hollister Hills. This time I will be bringing my wheeler XJ, no more wheeling the daily driver.:eeks1:

This run is open to everyone, even non XJs. The plan is to meet at the obstacle course area at 10:00 am on the 7th. Due to a lack of BBQs in the park, it is advised to bring your own lunch and if you need to cook it, bring your own BBQ. We will break for lunch and meet in the Sycamore Campground area around 1:00. Be sure to check in at the ranger station to pay the $5 day use fee and get the gate code for the upper ranch.

Never been to H.H. Looking forward to the tank traps.

Good luck with that one. Tank traps isn't going to be one of the trails I run. Unless you are willing to hammer down the gas, have a winch and someone to run the cable for ya, and 37" tires, don't even bother going into it. And that is just to get throught the first 2 traps. I won't even talk about no mans land and what it would do to a full body rig.... I saw the Dysfunctional guys run it 2 weeks ago, it is nasty as hell right now. On second thought Ben, have at it, I'll come down and watch.

31's on a Prius! ROFLMAO

I was just down there this past weekend and the conditions were as perfect as they can get at HH. Great traction and zero dust. Usually it's tons of mud and stupid slick, or tons of dust and choking all day. If my t-case is in and functioning, I might buzz down for a bit.

I mite be able to make it down there I have to replace my front U joint. they have tons of slack in them ok for street but not for wheeling.

Bad news...Hollister is closed to the public next weekend both Sat/Sun. Also closed this weekend Fri.Sat. and the early half of Sunday.

I went down there today to run with the L.O.S.T club and could not get in because of an event this weekend. So I thought I would ask about next weekend. The entire park is closed to the public for that event.

Should we switch back to Frank Raines? or any other suggestions?

i think that might be an issue.... ive never been to frank raines but if the creek trail is closed....

Well shoot! I dont know of any other spots to wheel in that area! We either move it to Rubicon area, Shaver area, or Modesto area. All of which are not day trips for everyone like FR or HH.

I would be ok with the 14th. Even the following weekend is ok.

Frank Raines just isn't really worth the drive right now. As far as I can see, the park closure schedule was updated today, 3/30/07, and it still shows next weekend that the upper ranch is open. I will call and see what is going on ASAP. Stand by....

Clear Creek? about 50 miles south and a little east of hollister on Hwy 25. May be reached from the valley through Coalinga?

I talked w/2 rangers at the entrance where you pay and they had the schedule in there hand. The entire park is closed next weekend for an event. I think he said it was a jeep event. Sounded like a "Easter Jeep Safari" kind of thing. Only if you were signed up for the event could you get in.
