Heres what I did today...

Had the MJ idle for a while, sounds good with the exhaust falling off, took an hour to fill tranny and cleaning ss tomorrow to get it moving

Started a TJ 4" RC kit today..

I have an 87 YJ looking kinda like that on my back porch right now... just finished putting my homemade poly leaf eye bushings in the MJ and now working on the gin pole / bumper mounted crane for it.

Soon as the crane is done, the cab is coming off the dodge parts turd and the rest of it is getting chopped up.

Took this thing for a spin around the block today. Drives like a brand new truck, with a wheelbase of an SUV. I can drive it in and out of the shop like it's a camry now. If you've never driven a fuel injected V8, stick shifted, hydroboosted, bobbed truck in the city, you haven't lived.

I have no idea what holiday it is today other than mothers day but there's a bunch of dressed up people walking down our street as I'm ripping around in this, staring at me.

Other stuff

Trailer axle driveshaft thanks to Colin for donating his old trailer axle to me.

It's hard to pick out the most baller part of your truck, but I'm leaning toward the 1970's tractor trailer style mirrors.

what I did yesterday...

weedwacker, meet acetylene. acetylene, meet weedwacker.

it stopped really suddenly on this run... shattered the insulator in the sparkplug and never ran again.

it wouldn't start back up after that (that was the fourth or fifth time it stopped running and we managed to resuscitate it) because:

Damn. That thing is way bad ass.

I thought so too. Finished most of my stuff up today and took it for a spin up and down the street and it died. Pulled it back in by myself with a Maxima.

The ignition module died. It was acting up before. Turns out it needed to be grounded so I had fixed that on friday. It ended up overheating itself and dying, or atleast that's what I think. Everybody adds a heatsink to them but I just had it in temporarily to test drive, didn't think it would overheat that quick. It was definitely hot when it died. Most people just bolt a piece of aluminum to it or something.

I have this
IMG_20120527_205153.jpg

I took it off an old video card. It's a small aluminum heatsink with a 12v fan built in, should keep my next one alive. Now I have to go and buy a $50 ICM and hook up the new heatsink tomorrow.

Well drove my xj home from work and heard a loud clunking coming from the rear at first I thought it might be the rear going but turns out the rear most u joint was toast. I've never seen one so bad still connected. got new ones but its pouring out so guess its tomorrow project.

I'd do it now, better to be soaking wet and cool than sweating your ass off tomorrow and NOT cool.

It's almost like working on your jeep in a swimming pool.

Blew both rear upper shock mounts, after driving a pogo stick for three days this happened

Now my wife doesn't freak when it hits a bump

The MJ was built solely while drinking pbr, working on a Pbr can diff guards if I can find silver jb weld

grabbed the first can of spray paint I came across and hit the formerly rusty spots with it so at least it won't get worse.

new windshield is in.

It's actually waterproof now, and I don't get pulled over by every cop that sees me. I could get used to that.

super bling BILLET DUCT TAPE (I need to start marketing this stuff to the people who buy stick-on chrome vents in the bling aisle at autozone)

Today:
And the MJ crane will pick up (barely) a 5.9/nv4500/231dhd combo.
551206_633035834242_72112789_n.jpg

It'll also pick up a whole dodge ram cab, but I didn't get any pics of that, it was too dark and I was too busy driving the MJ around the yard balanced on just the front tires. Every time I backed up or hit the brakes going forward it'd do an endo.
