I put a 99+ intake with the newer style pump setup on my XJ/MJ and didn't have that problem?
I think my belt wrapped around that little nub though and then came out.
Damnit...apparently you need to swap the timing cover in an OBDI to OBDII swap.

For what it's worth I happened to look at my new motor for the '98 (it came out of a '94 XJ) and it has the same section you had to grind off. I guess I know what I am doing before I even drop the motor in...
heeeeeeell no. I don't care about that jeep enough to bother with that crap :laugh2: It's getting ground off.

Try a magnet yet? Pull apart one of those junk hard drives I know you have and sweep around the general area with it. I bet you find the roll pin in less than 5 minutes... along with 18 other fasteners you forgot you dropped.
