help with lift kit

Get the Xj up on the chassis, take the wheels off, unbolt the shocks, loosen the control arm bolts, and remove the spring keeper tabs. You might find spring compressors helpful

if you have a buddy, then all you have to do is disconnect the swaybar end links and remove the shocks.............
that will let the axle droop far enough and you can replace the springs by hand........some prybars or spring compressors make it a little easier if you can't get them in.

if you are alone, then you can do the same but you WILL NEED the spring compressor, or put a jack under the front axle and disconnect the upper control arms at the axle end. then slowly lower the axle a little bit until you have enough room to swap out the coils.

also........if you are either replacing the trackbar or installing a relocating bracket, then disconnecting the trackbar will make it even easier.

WATCH OUT FOR THE BREAK LINES AND DIFF BREATHER TUBE....if you lower the axle to far, you can brake those.

if its only a 3" you can get away with your stock trackbar. Spring compressors are a HUGE help, almost necessary IMO.
x2 on the brake lines...

just be aware that if you use the stock trackbar, you'll axle will be slighly offset to the driver side.......some people don't care about that...

did somebody just make a post about their axle being offset after lifting???
