help needed for a good cause

I know this is late notice, but it seems the organizers are having difficulty gathering enough rigs for this worthwhile event. They need rigs with passenger seats. Basically each rig will take one disabled child and the child's sponsor/guardian. The trail is suitable for stock Jeeps.

The event is held off of Hwy 108 above Sonora, CA. Our club will be sending rigs, but we need more. If it helps, the event includes a free BBQ lunch. See the request for help below:

"Hello everyone!
Just got a call from Kathy Avery with Mud Sweat and Gears in Sonora.
Every year they have an event for disabled children at the Niagara
Rim trail called Kids on the Rock. This year they have about 75
children and half the number of rigs they need. It turns out that a
number of clubs flaked out to go on another run. I won't say
anything else, but that is wrong! These children are looking forward
to this trip. This is very short notice. The event will be held
this Sat. and Sun. If they can't come up with enough drivers, they
will have to tell half of the kids they cannot go. NOT GOOD!

I hope you can find it in your hearts to help.
This is a very rewarding experience.

Good job man, helping out the less fortunate. Maybe you can get another bench in the back of your xj and get 3 more people in there. :D

I haven't been before. I should actually be there right now, but things didn't go as planned at work so I came home late instead of heading down there. Hopefully I'll wake up in time tomorrow!! :D Seeya there!

Was that you in the grey cherokee with no flares?? If so sorry I didnt come over and say high. I was the guy in the white cherokee with the BW flares and 35's. Anyway thanks for coming up and helping out. We had enough jeeps and 4x4s so that everyone got a ride and had a great time. Hats off to Mud Sweat and Gears 4x4 club for organizing this event every year they really did a great job and made a lot of dissabled people vey happy. The forest service showed up with Smokey the bear and all the kids got to take pics with him it really was a great day. After the kids left we went and played on the "rock pile" and had blast.

Thanks for helpin out

Nice setup although I think you'd like the ARB in the front and the Aussie in the back, but with the hub kit the Aussie is probably invisible in the front anyways. The 29 spline 8.25 is a real stout axle, I had 1 until I got a good deal on a built dana 44 with a detroit. How do you like the Clayton long arms? I see that these seem to be the long arms of choice for people. I have a re 5.5" kit with a 2" boost in the back and 8" skyjacker coils in the front and 35" mtrs. I'm looking to do a long arm kit this winter I hope if I can get a decent price for my short arms and drop bracket. Did you run short arms before the long arms? Do you notice a big difference on road/off road?
Troy

wheeler 10: yep 6.5 is perfect with the flares I have more than enough room and no rubbing with 4.75 backspacing and the hub kit spaces the wheels out another 3/4"

Steinjeep:
Accually a have the clayton x member and RE TJ long arms and it works GREAT and only ran me about $500.00 because I allready had the adj. uppers. I did have short arms before with the 6.5" of lift and the long arms made a BIG differance in ride on road and off. I would defanately do long arms for 6" or more of lift and dont let the anti long arm guys scare you off. I dont hit my long arms anymore than I hit my stock lower control arm mounts when I had short arms........so go for it you will be very happy.

Thanks for the info. So was it cheaper & better to mix the re and Clayton's kit rather than going with just 1 of them? What's the $$ savings/advantage? Just wondering because re is just down the street from me. Are they asking too much for the cross member? I have a 8" re lift with 8" skyjacker coils and it does ride pretty harse even with the drop brackets on the short arms.

right now i am plaining on going with a teraflex lower arm and the re drop on my 6.5. i have not picked out what kinda shocks yet. i picked up a used d35 with a detriot in it and 4.56 gears for a steal so thats going in with the lift and a front d30 with 4.56 gear a limitslip.a sye shaft and a 2low kit is all that will be going into my car with the lift. how does that all sound to you guys what shocks should i run ???

Be easy on that dana 35 with the 33's and locker. At least carry some spare shafts. It's hard to pass up a good deal, but just don't get to cozy with the gas if you get stuck wheeling.

Ya it was cheaper I got the RE lower long arms for $250 (allready had the uppers)from DC4WD.com and the clayton x member was also $250 from clayton. I dont think there is any advantage of one from the other just cost.

Thanks for the info Jeff. I hope to get some long arms in this winter and sell my short arms and drop brackets.
