Some coworkers got back form a weekend trip up north yesterday.
They were snowmobliling and ice fishing up in the Oshkosh, Fon du Lac area,
just south of Green Bay, WI., for you non-MWC people.
They were ice fishing out on Lake Winnebago, and wanted to go eat lunch.
They were trying to think of the name of the place they went last year, what did they do?
Call OnStar,
"Hello, OnStar, May I...help...you?
"yea, we are looking for the name of a place to eat...ect."
"Sir, Is evrything OK?
"yea, Why?
"Sir, can you drive in a circle for us, our computer does not seem to be able to locate you properly."
"Sure"
As my friend drove in a circle, it dawned on him what was wrong!
The nice people in Atlanta did not relize you can drive a truck 30 miles out on to a lake in Febuary!
"How's that?" My friend asked.
"Sir, are your windows up?"-No shit, they asked him that!
"Sir, is there water around you?"
After a little bit of fun he explained where he was.

I wish he could have tape recorded the convesation!

I'd rather have been watching the service rep and his/her supervisor as well as the half dozen others going 'wtf'.... they ought to be used to the water thing though, I've seen onstar on a few higher end freshwater boats..

"Are your windows up?" That is funny.

Did they find the name of the place they wanted to eat?

As well as I. I would have loved to hear that conversation. Common practice in the north is driving on lakes in the winter.. in the south they think it is absurd. Always funny though when you get one or two people who cannot find the time to recover their ice fishing huts from the lake and they break through the ice during the thaw.

Onstar is crap. It takes them 10 minutes to "locate" your position and by that time youve probably passed your turn theyre about to tell you about. Its crazy the stuff they can tell you though. When i first got my truck i was messing with it and the guy was like, ok i have you in a blue 2003 avalanche. i was like....."ok thats cool.." and he goes "no whats cool is you need an oil change, you last drove your truck 3 and a half hours ago, the dog just pissed on the driver rear tire, and your sister is knocked up.......is there anything else i can do for you today mr wilson?" i hung up.

It was probably your truck-nutz that pissed him off.
