heims or currie joints?

time to order parts to build a 3 link for my red heep on tons.
i am looking at ruffstuffs 3 link kit but it has all 1.25" heims.
it seems most builders use rebuildable joints on one end & bushings on hte other. this is a trail rig. someone school me on the pros & cons of link end joints so i can order the right stuff & not step on my junk. :twak:

almost forgot: how long should the 3 link bars be? does it matter or am i just connecting the dots. how about height separation on the axle & at the frame? i need some schoolin' so i build it right.

yes, yes you do need some schooling. all of the above mentioned things matter greatly. i suggest doing some reading on pirate about 3 link builds.

I have Ruffstuff specialties 1.25 heims on all the ends of my homebrew y link...I love them off road but damn all the highway they are a little loud and you can feel just about any crack in the road. I expected the noisiness and how they perform off and on road. I figure, it's a jeep not a new car or supposed to ride like a caddy. At the end of the day Im happy with them.

what makes you say heims are louder? do you run them? the heims in my gf's rig are quiet and every rebuildable joint ive had is so loud i cant talk over them without them being greased..... i gues im asking if this comes from personal experience or the interweb

The Hiems them selves are not louder but theybdo transfer a lot of road noise very very well.....

Yes, do the Ruffstuff kit.

All my lowers are close to 40".

Look up the four link calculator and the three link calculator by Triaged on Pirate.

problem solved, i just ordered a Ruffstuff's 3 link & 4 link kits with 1.25" heims & free dom tubing on sale. time to get to work in the shop!

:cheers: I also took advantage of the free "dom" with the 3 link kit. :flamemad: Wish I could of afforded the 4 link kit at the same time.

the ruffstuff kits were the cheap part.
the set of 4 14" ORI struts i bought were the major coin! :hang:
i may have to keep my hydro assist instead of going full hydro for a while...

Im running Currie stuff on my 3 link set up on all ends. Feels great and no noises, yet!
