Expecting my group (assuming I properly understand your definition of "group") as me and my rig at this point.

1 jeep, 1 person at the moment, the girlfriend has school and so far no friends are interested/can get the time off... I'm a loner.

The pics of past events look like a hoot! I've tried to organize a deal with an auto shipping company to transport up to 9 or 10 XJs from Atlanta, with limited response from most of the Southeast Chapter. Regardless, i'm going so, 1 man 1 XJ. Never been to Moab so i'm looking forward to comparing it to Tellico, Windrock, Harlan.

Great idea....How much you think it would break down to for each jeep? Sure would beat the hell out of that drive, fly into Utah and hit the trails!

i know a few guys who ship their rigs out every few years, and to send 8 rigs from MA to Moab for the week cost them close to $1500 per rig. and the only way to "lock in" a return trip was to have the truck driver stay in town for the week and wheel with them while on-the-clock... that may not be typical of all freight companies but if they didnt make that deal their rigs would be shipped thru a broker in SLC.
make the drive!! you will never forget it.

$1500 sounds pretty steep....I guess I figured you'd get a break for filling the truck in one stop, and unloading all in another.

Guess you gotta find a trucker who likes to wheel....you buy the gas and food, he gets to bring his rig and wheel for a week for free?

That was my thoughts exactly! It broke down to about $1300 each for a full truck load of 10. Air fare was about $500 . Not a small amount of money, and more $ than fuel cost alone but the time was the deal breaker.Travel time on the highway turns 6 days wheeling into 10 days off work, and I just can't pull that off. I can leave Atlanta at 6:00am and land in Moab in time for breakfast with my rig meeting me at the airport:) .

So $1800 both ways? Not too bad for not having to make the drive and waste your wheeling time.

You can rent a Jeep in Moab. It won't be an XJ but it's an option.

Well Looks like I'm upping it to 2 people 1 jeep...right now.

My best friend went with me to Tellico 2 years ago and said she has to go to Moab.

Yes it will be great so see everyone again..

It looks like I have plans that are getting more and more in concrete everyday...at this point due to several things...mostly the cost of diesel, I'll be bringing one jeep and towing Pat's XJ on the other half of the gooseneck...allowing fuel prices to be split...

And I have another buddy that's throwing his dirt bike (motorcycle) on the trailer to ride out there also...more help with fuel...

Got the days off work approved last month...I can't wait...

mac 'testing the MEGA in megacab' gyvr

My rough count from the poll: 90 Jeeps/200 people
but since it's so early, subract 15%, multiply by 2, add 15%, divide in 3 then remove another 25% and then multiply by 3 and I think that'll be more or less the final number :D
